Got call - Auto-robot voice stating he was Mark Brown from State Attny General Office.  Something about a lawsuit about to be filed.  This was not a human voice and the recording cut off.  I have now blocked this number.  I have had not dealings with anyone/any entity in Seattle WA or the sSate of WA

Just received a call from this number stating that he was attorney Mark Brown and I was about to be sued in court for a payday that I supposedly took online in 2011-2012,and if I send $739.00 I could resolve this matter and it wouldn't go to court.

Just received a robotic voice stating Mark Brown from state attorney general's office; requesting my immediate response or my attorney's immediate response- If I fail to respond they will be contacting my employer and have me fired and arrested on site. I tried calling the jerks back but no answer. This is a scam hoping to get money - if the attorney general was after you- you'd receive official notification by mail-

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

(This was a real person on the phone) Was called by this number about a delinquent payday loan. Was told I would be arrested if I did not pay $600.00. He said he would call my employer and have me fired and arrested on site if I did not pay. There were a few other threats against me. I gave the phone to my husband and he listened for a while, then he said send us the lawsuit paper work to our house or serve the paper work to our house and/or come and get us. He hung up after that. He did not have much info on me, just my name.

this mark blum guy left an automated message saying he was from the attorney general office and that there was a law sweep and something about threating action taken to me, my employer and family.  First clue this was a fraud was he didn't ID what state he was from.  I'll just block the number, but would be nice if some action could be taken to stop others from receiving these

A person whom identified himself as Mark Brown, Attorney General of Washington called me via (206)701-7426 stating I was being sued by his firm because I owed an outstanding pay day loan.  I have never taken out a pay day which would warrant a suit.  THIS IS A SCAM.  PLEASE BEWARE. GOVERNMENT OFFICES AND OFFICIALS DO NOT NOTIFY YOU VIA A TELEPHONE CALL.  YOU WILL RECEIVE A CERTIFIED LETTER.  I AM A RETIRED 27 YEAR EMPLOYEE OF THE U.S. GOVERNMENT.  You must speak perfect English to work for any branch of the U.S. Government.  Let this be your first clue.

I just got a call from this number and I foolishly called back.  I had an argument with the man on the other end concerning a "loan" that I took out in 2012.  Yeah, right!  He had my former address wrong and I didn't give him the right one.  He said that this was the last day and that a warrant was being sent to the local authorities.  I have never taken out a payday loan and I told him this.  I thought I had kept control of the conversation, but after doing some research have discovered I did not do as well as I thought.  I still have the email I was sent with the same information.  I requested that he give me some information to verify he had the correct person and he would not do it.  I finally told him that i planned to dispute this and that I had a lawyer.  At that time he said he could recommend a lawyer and I told him again I had a lawyer.  After doing all this research I then called the number back where I got voice mail and let the message that I know this is a scam and not to contact me again that I plan to contact the Washington state Attorney General to report this and implied that I am prepared to sue if they contact or harass me in the future.
