    I rcd 6 calls from this number this morning on my cell phone. Some person with a thick accent is telling me they are from some legal investigation blah blah blah company. I swear it was like five words long but because she/he couldn't speak English well enough I have no idea who it was. This is the number they called from. Leaving the same message every time,  it is an important legal matter,  I must get in touch with them immediately,  blah blah blah. I'm sick of these calls. I'm in bankruptcy so if they want money from me they better contact the courts,  oh wait they'd have to be a real business to do that. SCAM!

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    •Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    According to one of their messages,  there is fraudulent activity with my social security number,  they give me a "case"number and then go to tell me the last four of my social, then stop,  oh they can't tell me that. I bet they want me to call them and tell THEM that info,  you know,  to verify it.
    I want born yesterday. I will report them.

    Tired of the BS
    This individual has called our business in the past seeking the same individual, when told the individual he is looking for is no longer employed here and to stop calling, he makes threats to continue calling back to back, tried to claim he's calling regarding an important legal matter, I said no, you're not we aren't that dumb and if it were a legit legal matter, then he'd know where and how to contact the person he is seeking. it's a scam, and it's happened before. We'd called the police when the calls were non stop and nasty, an officer actually came to the office and spoke to the caller and the caller got very nasty with the police, however we were informed there is nothing we are able to do as these people use an ap on their cell phone that allows them to robo dial and since we are a place of business one phone # will come through on all our lines so they'll all ring at the same time and it puts a damper on our business calls getting through.. don't know what else to do as he's done this in the past and has used different #'s .

    Does anyone know the name of this alleged "company"? I want to report them to all of the available authorities, but that often seems to involved needing a company name and address.

    I am not exaggerating when I say that they have called my cell phone and my office over 100 times today. I spoke to them once, to make sure that it was not about a legitimate debt, which it wasn't (they referenced a company I have never heard of, a loan that I did not take, and a bank where the loan was supposedly deposited, which I have never used). Once I knew that it was not legit, I yelled at them and told them to stop calling. They went so far as to threaten my receptionist with MURDER if she did not give them my social security company. Yeah.....not something that a real company would ever do. If these people want to tie up my cell phone all day, that is fine, but I NEED to find a way to get them to stop calling my office and threatening other people!!

    Indian debt scammer for sure.   They are calling you so many times  because they think you are vulnerable for some reason or another.  They tend to pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community.  Ignore the calls and block them if possible.

    Make a report to the local police.  Maybe they can suggest further action.  These people are hard-core scammer/extortionists located in India and as such outside the reach of US law.

The company that called you.
