Some guy with a heavy foreign accent called me twice at work when I was out of the office and left messages indicating that the minute I received the call I was immediately to call back at 315-515-4431, or I would have legal problems. The man identified himself as Christopher (I think this was the first name...couldn't make it out despite repeated playing of the message. Last name is Davis. This is a scam operation and will be reported. I do not have time for games at my job. No professional organization would leave such a message on a business phone, no matter what reason.

this guy with an accent and scripted call said it was very important that i call him at this number and that it is very important that i call NOW.  that i will need to need to call or my attorney and he wishes me luck that i dont have any further actions taken on me if i should call.  
this all started when i went on line to get a quote from an insurance company.  they sell your information to 3rd parties and they try and scam you for money.  I do not owe money to anyone and if there is an actual payday loan debt.  they would put it on your credit score and garnish your wages,   they would never threaten you to be arrested or need you to verify your information and only have the last 4 digits.  they would have all the information not bits and pieces.  trust no one threatening you with jail or wanting money.

I received the same message on both my personal phone and my work phone. I talked to him for a while and he talked about fraud and theft felonie charges that were going to be filed against me tomorrow. He asked for my attorney's information. He new my social security #, email, place of work, and all my phone numbers. I am concerned with the fact that he has so much of my personal information.

Yea I just got that call 2 months ago same guy with a California number same exact guy every time I get a call call that states attorney office and file a complaint. So far I've filed one in California Ohio Texas now new York

I just received a call from some that stated his name as Jordan no last name or company name. Said that I need to call him back along with my attorney, to clear up a matterand the matter is time sensitive and for me not to disregard it. The person tried to talk with an accent.  It has been a while since I have gotten a call, I thought that they had forgot.

I just got the same call today. They get your name and information off the Internet and threaten you that you owe them money. Have your attorney call them don't dis regard their message.  Scam, scam, scam.

A phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.

Man they got me scared me telling the cops are coming to get me at my job in the morning and charges are filed against me for felony fraud !! I paid 240 and now I read these post and iam mad at myself ! You know I got a wife and a 2 month old son at home and cant afford to go to jail or prison

Debt is a civil matter, not criminal and you can not be arrested. If you used a DC or CC, file fraud asap. Green Dot, Asap, get back to them and try to stop this.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I also just got this call and I also had went online but for refinance qoutes yesterday. This is not the first time this has happened to me because of online searches.

I just received a call from 'Jordan'.  I have had so many calls using this same script. Scammers.

Also, the name that showed up on my caller ID on my cell phone  Is Abo Mouhammad, not Jordan.

Received a threatening call on both my cell and office number.  Want this stopped.  It is affecting my job and my health.

Received the same call today from "Jordan" on both my home and work number. Whenever I get a call anymore, I check the number and most of them end up being scams

Can u please tell me what ever happened once they called treating you because I just got the same phone calls and said I would be picked up in the morning and all kinda stuff they knew my name phone number social home address all kinda stuff and said I would spend 11 months in jail!!! I am so worried now and I haven't done anything please let me know whatever happened

No one ever calls to say you are going to be arrested.  This is just a scam using scare tactics to try and get you to call back.  If you do they will use more bullying and scare tactics to convince you to pay them money to keep from being arrested.  If you are really concerned, contact your local law enforcement or courthouse. Any arrest warrants would be on file but I doubt you will find that there are any.  Sounds like a typical off shore debt collection scam.

You might want to consider getting a call blocking device or phone. For a cell phone, there are call blocking apps, maybe one will work.

I got the same call today. It was also from "Jordan". I decided to call the number back and was told my call could not be completed with the number as dialed. This is definitely a scam!

I wish someone would find a way for us to be rid of these people. It is a waste of our time and does not help my patience.

Received a call at work from Ron Baxter from New York. Stated I was in legal trouble with the state of NY. He had a thick Indian accent. Have received other calls from a number that is 2222222222 with the same type of information.
