"zombie debt" collector spoofing an Iowa phone number. The company is NCC Recovery and they're based out of Ontario, Canada.

They say that a civil lawsuit has been filed against you and they want to help out, but you have to call them back with a case number. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK! There is no lawsuit. If you call back and give them the case number that restarts the statute of limitations on the debt and then you are obligated to pay it.

These scumbags buy "dead" debt for pennies on the dollar, and then act like they're doing you some huge favor buy offering you a settlement.

I'm sure that they're breaking some international law by doing this, and they're violating the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) as well.

If you owe a debt and want to pay it, go straight to the company that you owe the money to, NEVER put money in the pockets of these criminals.

These people have been calling me non stop for a couple weeks now. I have never spoke to anyone and refuse to call them back. I contacted the Attorney General for Florida and they advised these people are "phishing" for personal information. They use multiple numbers and leave the same message (Another number they are using is 406-545-7381) Do not call these people back or give them any personal information it is a complete scam. I even checked my credit just to make sure there wasn't anything negative.

same bs 2 civil complaints filed against you going to serve you with documents at your home or place of business. they can kiss my ass I know they are scammers and will not call them back. they don't leave a company name but it is the identical message from multiple numbers.

now under this number ( male voice recording. Script is always the same. Call always seems the start with J R Robinson sounding like it is in the middle of the recording. Then the following script.

"I'm contacting you from the process and summons division.  I'm calling to notify you that there will be two charges filed against you in your county.  Looks like fraudulent activity has been attached to your name and SSN.  I do need to make you aware of your legal rights to address your charges before they are filed against you.  You will need to do so before you receive your summons at your place of employment or at your home address.  Once you're served your rights will be forfeited.  Your case number is ******.  Their telephone number is 515-528-7933.  You will need to speak to someone in their legal department.

they called my mothers phone asking for me with the same message as everybody else is getting find these people they are pissing me off

I received the same phone call from them and several others! I'm sick of it! You'd think people have better things to do than harass people.

These people are harassing me from this number called me four times in one day and other days more I am sick of this  I am about to change my number and never get credit again  I don't owe anyone anything and am tired of the harassing phone calls. .They keep leaving this message to my phone and they have my exes debt not mine.  So sick of these phone calls. saying there is a lawsuit and civil suite against me and that if I rectify this now to settle it would not go to court.  something like this.

I need to amend my first post. This is not NCC Recovery. I called this number back from my cell phone and the man who answered said it was "Alexander & Associates" and "seemed" confused about my questions about NCC Recovery. Either way, they are still scam artist and they're still breaking the law.

but they make their money off of people who are uninformed, and sadly... these days there are a lot of those people. I always tell people to become very familiar with the FDCPA and always know the statute of limitations of debt in your state.

They call and leave a message every other day that states the same thing over and over.  This message is for (enter robotic voice) and I have been faxed information to serve you either at your home or business.......yada yada yada.  They have been calling for the last month with the same message on two different numbers.  

I've been getting calls from both numbers for over a month! I blocked their number on my cell (do I don't get the initial call), but my vmail inbox is littered with the repeating message. The first couple weeks was a female voice now it's a male voice. Even got a call from my Grandmother the other week because she got the same damn call.

Reporting them is kinda pointless/futile due to the fact it's a scam right? I could care less about the vmail messages I get but having a frantic grandmother call me worried I'm about to be carted off to debtors prison is a whole other story.

I have found a Williams, Alexander and Associates debt collector located in New jersey.  Could this be the company?

They called about an hour after a call from another number that said they were going to serve me a summons at home or work within 24-48 hours and to have 2 forms of ID ready.  For years, I have received calls from various numbers and caller IDs telling me I have 24-48 hours to call back and resolve the matter or a complaint will be filed against me.  I never answer the phone or call back.  Sometimes they spoof my own number so it looks like I'm calling me.  One of these scammers even used IRS as their caller ID.  They pretend to be various agencies, law offices, or process servers to try to make you think that a complaint is moving through a process and is getting nearer to being filed against you.  Different callers have used the same "case" number.  Their case number is not a legitimate court case number; one of their messages claimed it was the case number filed at my county courthouse, and I know that there are no such case numbers with those letters or that number of digits in my county.  It is probably their own file number for you.  They are illegally calling me, as all of my debts were discharged by bankruptcy long ago, and I have incurred no debts since.  I have had two extensive background checks done, including credit checks, for applications I filed, including for a job with Homeland Security, so I know my record has nothing against it.  Collection agents are supposed to check whether or not you have filed bankruptcy, and my bankruptcy attorney assures me that it is easy for them to check prior to making calls to people, and it is illegal for them to contact you regarding debts covered by bankruptcy.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

You do know we have no debtor's prisons in the US.  You can't be arrested for ordinary civil debt.

This company called me and said they were from a summons office and I had fraudulent charges against me, two charges l.told them I had no loans . they were very threatening.

They gave me an address that I never lived at and she told me i was lying...i think i oupd know where i have lived.... i never gave them a case # cause theu didnt even call me they called my parents house which havent lived at in 15 years. Never would tell me what it.is about.

I worked for Citi Bank in the credit card fraud dept and collections... Im familiar with all the laws and regulations. Only law people need to know is that credi card or pay day loans are unsecured debt and cannot be collected on... credit card companies write bad debt off after 6 months for a tax break. The woman that i talked to was very rude when i asked her what it was about...still dont know...i had calls last year about some payday loan that i never took out and whats funny is payday lpans are illegal in NC.  

Got a call from this number and every time I called the line was busy.... SCAM!
