- FS| 3 repliesGot a call at work from a man named "David Lackey" (610) 675-0853 ext 3211. He knew my name and last four digits of my social. I told him not to call my place of employment. He proceeded to call back twice threatening to serve me at work. He also called every extension here in an attempt to embarrass me. This is illegal, so I hung up on him. I called back and asked for the name of the company, where it's located and his supervisor. He put me on hold. He returned to the phone stating "Ms S what do you want?" I then told him that I'm glad he acted this way and all his threats and attempts to embarrass me was illegal. He hung up. I proceeded to call him back asking for info, he replied you'll get that when you're served and hung up. I called again and he gave me the same response and hung up again. Immediately my cell phone rang from the number with a woman on the phone. I put her on speaker, so my co-workers can hear. I asked her what is the company name? She paused then said Civil Arbitrators when googled (no such business exists). She proceeded to ask if I could be served at another address, I told her you would have to. I asked her what is the address and who is the supervisor? "She said I'm about to terminate this call because I'm not about to argue with you." I asked why can't you give me the info that I asked for? She said you're not going to get on my nerves and hung up!
Listen everyone a legitimate business does not act this way. If you tell them that they are not to contact your place of business, they cannot! Also they are not supposed to harass or attempt to embarrass you. Know your rights!!!
Google: how to deal with harassing calls from a Bill Collector for information and also contact a legal representative if this continues!!!- Caller: Civil Arbitrators

- Psr replies to FS| 1 replyJust got a call like this from a Cathy Stallworth from Civil Arbitrators, the same tactics were tried on me. She gave me a list of family member names and ask if they could have use my name, when I said I wanted proof that I signed for the loan, I was told that I would get it when I was served. At this point I was threatening to have my lawyer call her at which time she said "I am not going to argue with you" and she terminated the phone call.
Thank you so much for you post.
People, please make sure you check out any call asking you for your hard earned cash, don't send I dime out until you do.
Good luck - ESB| 3 repliesReceived a call from these people on 3 different phones in a span of 5 minutes leaving messages on each phone (2 cell phones and my house phone, which oddly enough, I never use and no one has the number) saying the same as some of the others here, threatening to call my human resources department to serve me on the property if I didn't comply to resolve this issue by the end of the day (they never stated exactly what it was I needed to comply with) I will not call them back as I have had similar calls before only to find it was a scam. I have blocked them from 2 of my 3 phones, so now I will wait to see what their next move is. These people sound very unprofessional and are violating several FTC laws doing what they're doing. A complaint to my local attorney general is in order, next time, they'll find themselves getting served with papers from MY attorney. They also seem to use several different names as I have noted from the previous posts.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - ESB replies to Tamianth| 1 replyThank you so much for the recourses! I will use them!

- Don't Get Scammed replies to PsrCivil Arbitrators is a scam. They called me in July. I reported them to the PA Attorney General's Office and was advised this company is not registered and is a scam. The agent I talked to said when you owe a debt you must get something in writing from the original debtor showing who, how much and when. The validation of debt notice must also show your rights to contest this debt. No legitimate debt collector calls people up and threatens them. Do not give out any information and report them to the police and your state attorney general's office.

- Kim| 1 replyJust got a call from this number from Joshua Campbell. He is serving me at work tomorrow. Don't know where. Joke is on him. I am on disability and haven't worked in 8 years. Plus we moved and have a different address. Whoever this is got old information.
- Don't Get Scammed replies to KimKim, Joshua Campbell also called me today at 4:47 pm. The caller ID show the number as 832-317-4443 in Texas. Left a message that he was going to my place of employment tomorrow (I'm retired) and if I wasn't there he would come to my home. He was going to serve me a subpoena tomorrow between 12-5 and I would need two forms of ID when I sign for this document. When he identified himself he said he was Joshua Campbell, city of Harrisburg. It is a scam, don't sign for anything and don't give them any information. Report them to your state's attorney general.
