- indianaCalled the number and it was disconnected... I just called Bank of America and they closed the account because there is no way to block a specific merchant... That 13 cent charge will cost me hours of time changing automatic withdrawls from that number...and they call this a victimless crime...
- JeffHad a $0.15 cent charge to my account yesterday. Went right to the CU and canceled my card. Sounds like everyone did the right thing and canceled their cards or closed accounts. It sucks to have to do, but it just goes to show you that checking and tracking your account activity on a daily basis is the prudent thing to do in today's environment.
- JulsSame charge, 12cents, number not in service. emailed credit union, moved all funds to savings, reported to Feds and gave them the link showing all others posted here. I would venture a guess it was a one time thing and they just made tons of money between all the 12-20 cent charges however I am still cancelling my card. Hopefully the feds will act and catch them immediately.
- Juls replies to Vit WAFrankly, dealing with credit card payments in business I can say Merchant Services providers have no way to monitor something like that. If it's an online or program for batching charges they wouldn't see until 24-48 hours and even then not sure anyone would actually notice it was strange. I would like to know what merchant services provider it was though to investigate it further myself. Doesn't look like the FTC has put enough of a stronghold over them to prevent this type of fraud. What is more scary to me is there are probably thousands of others who have not posted here or didn't even notice.
- JD - NYSame thing here..... in my case, the only thing different is that my on-line credit card statement had a hyperlink pointing to a Sony website right below the description of the "GFDL 8007640847 TX " charge. The weird thing is that the hyperlink to Sony site was placed where the "dispute charge" button normally shows on my e-statement. Citibank customer service had no idea what I was talking about.
But I closed the account after reading these posts here. - L in IllinoisI received no call but saw an $.18 charge on my debit card and when I called the bank (Charter One) they gave me the phone number. When I called, it said "not in service". I cancelled my card and getting a replacement. Others have posted some connection between GFDL & Itunes - I have absolutely nothing to do with Itunes so that can't be the common thread. Will report this to fraud department of bank on Monday.

- KW from NJAlso had a charge for 11 cents from "GFDL 8007640847 TX" on my HSBC MasterCard Credit Card on Thu/Fri. Am currently disputing the transaction with my bank (can initiate it online), haven't cancelled the card yet, as I'm hoping the bank will have received a number of these and will advise me of the best course of action on Mon/Tue.
I'm half-hoping that this is a one-off, someone trying to make some money by 1000s of small transactions, rather than via a small number of huge ones, although past experience shows that the small transactions are followed by big ones... after all, even a 1000 people at $0.15 is only $150! On a credit card that they've used for me, they must have paid a transaction fee to MasterCard of maybe 2%?
How is this worth it for them, unless they are expecting to follow-through with some bigger transactions... perhaps cancelling the card is the way to go... - Pat W from WA$0.14 charge to my Wells Fargo Visa card on 11/13/08. Did the same as everyone else here - called my bank and had them cancel the credit card and issue me a new one. I have to say that Wells Fargo has always been on the ball when it comes to credit card fraud. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they have already gotten the FBI involved in this.
My guess is that for every one person posting a similar problem here, there are at least 1,000 people who have not. Scary! - AC from CAI was charged 14 cents on Nov 14. It hit my Visa debit card. Bank of America advised that they had my card number, 3-digit security code and zip code. The bank accepted the fraud report, credited the change and is issuing a new card. I haven't made any unusual or unsecure purchases that I can think of. But clearly, my information is out there.

- BillMy bank (Navy Federal Credit Union) temporarily froze my account and notified me after the suspicious $0.19 charge to my visa check card. I ended up canceling that card to avoid any future malicious activity. I initially wasn’t going to dispute the charge since it isn't really worth my time, but, after reaing all the comments, will file to prevent them from reaping any benefit.
Thanks for all that contributed and to a credit union that is proactively guarding againt fraud. - TXsame as the rest... .13 cent charge, had to cancle my card and have a new one shipped to me. What a pain in the ax. Hope these guys go down!
- J replies to ertlnetI just went online and saw a charge on 11/14/08 for .18 cents on my checking. I called Chase and reported the problem and they also stated that I needed to cancel my debit card. Also the Chase rep I spoke with prior to transferring me to the dispute department, stated that he had already received several calls today regarding the same issue with several different customers. It is rather concerning to think that our accounts can be debited in this fashion. All we can do is close the debit card accounts and hope they catch the thieves.
- Ben from ConnecticutSame story. Bank of America account. I noted the following $0.13 charge on my checking account (originating from my wife's debit card):
CHECKCARD 1113 GFDL 800-764-0847 TX 24765018318200425201704
Thank you all for posting your stories. It was because I googled the above and read all of your similar charges that I called BofA and immediately cancelled my wife's debit card and filed a complaint.
The fact that people from all across the U.S. with diffent banks leads me to believe this scam must have originated from some online store we all recently purchased something from. If not that, then there is some common link here. - JC| 1 replyI have the same situation. I checked my online banking this morning to find a charge of $0.16 withdrawn from my account. I called the number provided (1-800-764-8047 TX GFDL)and got a recorder saying the number was no longer in service. I called the bank & they are supposed to be investigating it.

- kebNoticed an .11 charge on my account... extremely suspicious and scary (how did they get my account info?!?). The number is disconnected but I will definitely be reporting this
- StefanoHey, BOA account in CT, same problem 16 cents from GFDL in TX, card canceled, what a pain...
Warned everybody I know. - tbI saw $0.15 on my Household Bank (HSBC) Visa; transaction date 11/13, posted 11/14. Called the card company 11/15, disputed and canceled card. We've used this card with several online retailers for some time and never had a problem until now.
