I get calls from this number at least 3 or 4 times a week and I never answer because they never leave a message.  I finally got frustrated and googled it.  I'm glad I didn't waste minutes with these people.  How irritating.

I get calls all the time from The Share Group. Depending on which organization they are calling for, they can be very nice or very rude. Here is their web page: http://www.sharegroup.com/index.htm

There are numbers you can call to complain. I did, and spoke to a very understanding rep. Igot my number immediately removed from their lists.

They just started calling me in the last couple weeks.  I have Bresnan Digital Phone service so when an annoying company calls me too many times I just activate Selective Call Rejection.  Your phone company probably has something similar.  For instance they just called me again so I hit *60 on my phone after I hung up on them and then put in 18009560076 and then got a message that is had activated...that's it.  Now when they call they get a message saying they have been blocked. This service is included with my digital phone package.  You may want to call your phone co. or google it and find out if there is a fee per use or monthly fee.  Good Luck.

I just called the main line posted above (617 area code) and said that I was on the national do not call list and I would like t obe taken off their calling list.

The receptionist on the other end of the line was clearly stoned and I have no faith that I will be taken off the list.  I will follow up here if I continue to get calls from them.

I also told her that when they called me there was no one on the other end of the line and she said "uhhh that sounds like a dialer error..."  whatever.  I will follow up here if they keep calling me.

We didn't answer the call because we could see that it was an 800 number. I did check out the Share Group's website. Even though they don't say it on their website, they are a fundraising company. The business is to call for non-profits on contract. They usually take from 75-80% of the funds raised. The rest goes to the organization that has hired them. Please if you want to give to a good cause give directly to the cause and not to these businesses that disguise themselves as non-profits. If you don't know who you want to give to, check out www.charitynavigator.com . They rate nearly every legitimate charity in the US by their efficency, and low fundraising and operational costs. That way you know where most of your money is going. If you give through these phonebank fundraisers, you are paying for more people to call you. Thanks.

I also got calls from the Share Groups 800-956-0076 number which I then placed in my call screening.  Then I got a call from the Share Groups 800-429-0899 number which I also placed in my call screening.  Next I got a call from the Share Groups 866-499-2753 number which I also placed in my call screening.  Is harassment or what?

I get really irritated that when they call my cell, it rings once or twice, and then they hang up, and do not leave a message.  When I do pick up, they hang up, I do not even get an opportunity to talk to someone.

I may just follow suit with others and file a complaint.  I left a rather harsh message, telling them they are wasting my time and minutes by hanging up, they are harassing me, and the recording said they will have someone call, I told them I expect them to call, demanded to make sure they remove me off their lists, I am on a Do Not Call List, that they are violating the law, and want to speak to someone to rectify this situation.

I doubt I will get a call, so we shall see.

I contacted SHARE group directly and told them that I was on a "do not call" list and asked that they remove my number from their list. They were very courteous and businesslike. Their contact info is:

I have a small ' blocker' unit interface, between my answering-machine and the telephone line outlet.

This ' 800-956-0076 ' has logged OVER 300 calls to my number, and I NEVER pick up.

I am a democrat, life-long, and when I donated two years ago the calls started. They apparently took my name and address from my check, and used that to get my home telephone number.

The ONLY way I know to ' get back,' is where it hurts THEM. This next time around, I am voting straight Republican ticket.

300 nuisance calls from one political party, is way past abuse. I say let them know by supporting the ' other side,' which by the way has never harassed me even one time.

I have a computer attached to my 'phone line, and " The Share Group " has called me over 300 times now, in just the past few months.

Don't want to burst your bubble, anybody, but if you have made a donation and that company hires ' The Share Group ' to call you to try and solicit even more money, by having donated $$'s you have given your ' permission' to call you, and the ' Do Not Call' lists do not apply.

In my case, ' The Share Group ' told me the charity was the ACLU to which I had made a donation more than 1 year ago. When I went to the ACLU's online site, I was ' shocked ' to see the ACLU doesn't have any problem, apparently, with ' sharing your number with other charities.'

The ONLY (and I repeat ONLY) way to stop these groups, is to write directly (or e-mail directly), or call directly the actual charity / charities to which you have donated $$'s in the past, let them know you are being harassed, let them know which group is making all the harassing telephone calls, and tell them you are never again donating a penny.

If people get angry about being harassed (because most of us are ' sheep,' aren't we?), and let the charities know you are going to be withholding future donations and/orgiving your money to another charity, instead, do you think their policy won't change?

Just an addendum. If you ' give directly ' and use a check to make the donation to their charity, well in my case they took my name and address off my check... got the telephone number to my home 'phone from that information... and it went to " The Share Group."

Even only getting ' the other 20%' the charities still make a lot of money using these telemarketers. Send a money order to your charity, although I prefer in my case to withhold my charitable donation that year and I write a letter (or send an e-mail) directly to the ' offending charity' of why they are not getting any donation from me this year.

' Money talks,' right. If charities lose donations, they stop using the telemarketers.

This number traces to the Share Group, a political fundraising company that gets phone numbers from open campaign finance records.  I got their email address (info@sharegroup.com) and sent them the following message:

I have several times been bothered at inconvenient times by telephone solicitations from your company.

Be advised that I NEVER respond to such solicitations.

Please take my telephone number (***-***-****) from your list, or add it to your DO NOT CALL list.

This is a scam the republicans used in 2006.  Keep harassing people acting like the dems so people get pissed off and vote for the republicans.  Don't fall for this Karl Rove crap!  It's public info when you donate and your number isn't that hard to find.

I donated to Barack Obama and started receiving these calls this week.  I answer and get hung up on.  When I called back, they said they were the Share Group and something about progressive politics.  Note they don't say "Democratic Party," or "Barack Obama."  This is very sly and tricky.  Don't change your vote over this.

This jerk called me during work and when I answered my cell, he asked for my husband.  I tried to figure out who was calling and why and he told me "The Share Group" and started getting demanding with me, saying "Is ___ there or NOT?!" And then when I kept asking him more questions, he just said "I'll call back later" and hung up on me.  I called the number back and it just rang and rang. He probably knew it was me calling back and he refused to pick up.

I was furious.  I called the main "Share Group" number to complain.  The woman acted like she couldn't care less.  She said they wouldn't call me back.  Yeah, right.
