I keep getting messages left on my voicemail from a John (?) threatening to have me arrested and served with court papers, then I received a phone call from another number starting with 202 and saying it was a currier service and wanted to know what my address was so they could serve me a summons from the ACB & Assoc..

I don't know what to do?  Any suggestions?

I've received two calls from 814-251-9900 saying his name is John Wood and Dispatch at Innercarriers has hired him to serve papers on my son's ex-wife of 4 years.  I googled Innercarriers and from what I can determine it seems to appear that this number is most likely a scam... the 814 area code is in the Huntington/Erie Pennsylvania area and Innercarriers is quite possibly the internet/cable provider for this area code.

These people have been harassing me too.  They have called my work, cell, Mother and brother!  They say I have 72 hours to return the call.  They called again today and said I had 72 hours to return the call.  They told me that over 72 hours ago!  These 'bottom feeders' buy old debts for pennies on the dollar and then try to collect.  I will not give them the time of day!  Besides, what sane person would give out their address to a complete stranger over the phone!?.  If they don't already know it, they don't need it!  If the law is really looking for you, they know how to find you.  They don't need an address and they damn sure ain't gonna call you up on the phone to harass  you!  Block the number if you can!

This is so shady. Someone called me from the number claiming that they were planning to serve paperwork to my sister for a legal matter but that she could call their firm called Anderson, Crum and Brown to resolve the issue. When she called back, they said that she owed a debt for a payday loan from 4 years ago and arranged a payment plan to settle the debt of $3,000 for $800 as an alternative of having her wages garnished. We started doing some research when we realized that they hadn't followed proper protocol for a collection agency and realized that this is a TOTAL SCAM. The law firm does not exist, and I found the firm's name listed on other scam websites. My sister cancelled her debit card after speaking with them and they called her back and threatened her saying that she is facing fraud charges (ironically).

Got a call from these people claiming I owed a pay day loan.  Threatened to serve me with papers for fraud, when I believe they are the fraudulent ones.  Changed debit card so they can not take any money out of my account.  They claim that they are with NCW Billing to receive the payments.  Be aware of these people.  Also directed me to call 202-803-6143 to resolve this matter.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
