Anonymous call from Bandera, in Texas,  displaying only a number, but no name.

Idiotic caller hanged up when I answered.

When I called them back, a recording asked to press 1, if one wanted to be placed
    on a do-not-call list.

Sounds like Heather has been busy & is hitting us all today. I have friends in the area code appearing on the CID (Bandera TX) but I doubt it's the real # of origin. I do believe I now get more scam calls on my land line than legit ones.

Wait, what am I saying? Heather got me on my cell phone this afternoon, not my land line. Very shortly, the scam callers will outnumber real callers on my cell too!

its the idiots from card services back again. :( I thought that the FTC finally grew some cahones and got these abusive, harassing, imbecilic cretins shut down. "Account Services - calling about your credit card account, no problems  currently, w your account - urgent however, that you call us about lowering your interest rate to as little as 6.9 percent - eligibility limited, expires soon,  press 1 to speak w operator, 2 to discontinue further notices (actually just to verify that we have a good number so we can continue to harass the life out of you and burn up your cell minutes, even though constantly blocking your nasty number, you just keep calling, so please go to the devil and roast like a brisket on labor day).   Robo call on my cell phone. There should be a death penalty for callers like these. PHISHING (NOT TELEMARKETER), Illegally calling with recorded call, that they will continually call from.

Received call this afternoon and since I do not answer unknown calls, it went to voicemail. They hung up. I am on the national do not call list for the good that does with scammers..

I think I'm just going to keep a Sharpie in my bag and write these phone numbers on bathroom walls so people will call them at odd hours of the night.

Why did I sign up for Do Not Call!?  These calls are annoying!  This week, I am sitting down and filing complaints for EVERY number that I have blocked. Because every one of the calls is a violation.
    • Caller: Do know - no voice mail left

The DNC isn't a call blocker and can not protect you from the illegal callers, extortion scammers, foreign country's and frauds. Criminals do not obey laws simply said.    They use spoofed numbers which make it hard to track them down.. it takes time to do this and many subpoenas for call records.

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

I was called by this number on my cell phone. I never answer a call I don't recognize. It is now on my cell's reject list.
The other day I was by another number. This call came from northern Calif area and voicemail said 'Hi Jo Jo' (I've never been call by this nick name, he wanted to be my friend !!!). Trying to disarm me I guess.

But at least you can block them on your cell phone, not that it helps.  They just use a different number.

Per the Do Not Call website

If I register my number, will ALL unwanted calls stop?
No, the Do Not Call Registry prohibits sales calls. You still may receive political calls, charitable calls, debt collection calls, informational calls, and telephone survey calls.

In addition, companies may still call if you’ve recently done business with the company, or if you’ve given the company written permission to call you. However, if you ask a company not to call you again, it must honor your request. Record the date of your request
