    SCAMMER BAMMER
I RECEIVED A CALL (10-15-2014) THEY KNEW MY NAME, WHERE I WORK, AND LAST 4#'S OF MY SSN! THEY SAID I RECEIVED A PAYDAY ADVANCE IN MY ACCOUNT AND NEVER PAID IT BECAUSE THE ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED (FISHING). GAVE ME AN AMOUNT AND SAID IF I DIDN'T PAY IT THEY WOULD SEND A WARRANT TO MY COUNTY (UNNAMED). SAID I HAD 3 PENDING FEDERAL CHARGES AGAINST ME! ALSO TOLD ME THAT IF THEY COULDN'T REACH ME AT HOME, THEY WOULD ARREST ME AT MY WORK PLACE. I ASKED THE DATE OF DEPOSIT, THE AMOUNT OF THE DEPOSIT AND THE COMPANY THAT THE DEPOSIT ALLEGEDLY CAME FROM. THE EXTREMELY RUDE PERSON THAT I WAS TALKING TO SAID SHE COULD NOT REVEAL THAT INFORMATION. SHE COULD PUT ME THROUGH TO THE PAYMENT PROCESSING COMPANY SO I COULD PAY TO AVOID PROSECUTION! I ASKED HOW I COULD PAY THIS AND SHE SAID I COULD PAY VIA DEBIT CARD, CREDIT CARD OR GIVE THEM MY ACCOUNT#...........NOW THAT DEFINITELY THREW UP A RED FLAG ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT SHE WOULD NOT REVEAL THE COMPANY OR THE AMOUNT. I TOLD HER WHEN SHE HAD THAT INFORMATION TO CALL ME BACK AND PERHAPS WE COULD TALK. SHE YELLED AT ME AND THEN HUNG UP!!!! WHAT A SURPRISE!!!!!

Received multiple messages from 832 numbers in Texas, claiming I had a fraud case against me. They won't say who they are, and claim they are not authorized to send any thing in writing. Just by that I know it is a scam because I unfortunately fell for this a few years ago and lost $500.

received several calls from this company claiming I had felony charges against me for check fraud and failure to pay back a payday loan. they had all my information, my old mailing address, my phone number, everything. they said if i didnt agree to the terms of the affidavit, that they'd send it off as failure to comply and that a warrant for my arrest would be issued within 48 hours. they wanted me to settle outside of court and pay the "fine" through their attorney. huge scam! by the way, if you call the number back, their office is called API Investigations out of texas

It looks like they are actually using a legit company's name. The phone numbers do not match. This is not unusual for extortion scam operations.  One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I received a call on 10/15/2014 that went something like this. I received a call telling me that I had taken a payday advance loan out, and the account had been closed. They said the financial institution were filing a lawsuit against me for a felony for attempting to defraud. I was baffled, they had my address, maiden name, last 4 of my social, my email address and previous place of employment. I've never taken a payday loan out, and I was a little confused/nervous. At the end he started talking about making a payment of $150 to cease the filing of the lawsuit, and give me time to figure it out. A light went off; scam. I told them I would have to discuss it with my husband, and hung up. I called the sheriff's dept. They told me to check my credit report (fine, nothing on it) and then call back. A deputy came out to get the information, and called the company while here. They would not give him the name of the company, even when he stated he was a deputy with the sheriffs department, and ended up yelling at him over the phone and hanging up. .
