- Jim| 7 repliesLeft a message on my cell that they have a summons for my arrest and they are coming to my house and my business to issue the summons. OK I'll wait patiently for them with my 9mm. I have never been in any trouble in my life. I bet this is part of the "John Spencer " scam because it sounds like them...

- Chewbacca the Wookie| 1 replyNext time they call, answer and see if you can get a "human" on the line, then have some fun. Let them go through their whole speech and just listen. You might want to occasionally interject "oh, that sounds serious" and "really? I wouldn't want that to happen", just to give them the impression that you're actually buying their B.S.). Then very calmly ask them to send a full accounting of the debt they claim you "owe" to your mailing address. They will, of course, claim they have mailed you said validation (which they, of course, have not, as said validation does not exist). Then very calmly ask them for their mailing address so that you may send them a C&D letter. They may blow a gasket at this point, but more than likely, they will just hang up and move on to someone else (who hopefully knows to do what you just did). This will really grind their gears once they realize that they've just wasted 5 minutes of their time on someone who isn't going to cave, and as the old saying goes, time is money, especially to a scammer. The key is to remain calm and matter-of-fact. Let them go off the deep end if they want and just enjoy the show. Drop the FCDPA into the conversation, but wait until they're done with their rant. The key is to waste as much of their time as possible. Why not? They're wasting your time - you're just returning the favor.

- KKGot a call from these guys. They told me that some company is about to issue a summons and they will come to my place of business. I told them that I know that this is a fraudulent call and that I have an attorney and he is ready to go to bat for me. The guy hung up. These guys are a bunch of [***] and will try to scare you to get money out of you. Don't fall for it!!!! These guys are hard up for cash and will try to scare you into paying them by pretending that they are about to issue a warrant for your arrest. Really pathetic that there are people out there who can feed their families with the money they scam off of others. Pieces of sh**.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.- Caller: Informational Post

- CV| 4 repliesA man, calling himself Anthony Stone with Legal Caring Services, left a message on my cell that I was going to be served a summons at home or at work within the next 24 hours. He never said who the message was for. After doing some research, it seems it's a law firm out of New York that was supposedly shut down. Looks like they are starting up again with new phone numbers.

- earthritaGot the same call as everyone else - From "Anthony Stone" and the 8442266460 number. The John Spencer group's been threatening to "serve" me "within 24 hours" since last year about this time. They called my work, my home and when I finally got a person and not a recording, I told them to come on, I'd be waiting. I'm STILL waiting...the bill I supposedly owe has been paid off for almost 30 years!! Now when I get their calls, I just put them on hold and leave them there. It's kind of fun to see how long they hold for me! Bunch of sad people to try to scam others like this.

- L BoonI've been getting calls like this from various numbers and I just got one today from this number...it is a fraudulent call...they tried to tell me I owed $13,000 on a credit card that I've never had. I ignore these calls and don't do anything and nothing had ever happened. My husband always checks to verify that there's nothing being filed against me through our local courts and there hasn't ever been anything. Don't believe what they say but feel free to answer and go off on them or call them on their b.s.
