I actually got this number from another number that called me and told me I had to call this number with a case file.  Supposedly this number is for a Brock and Moore Consulting Firm.  That is what they answer the phone as.

This is a fairly new bunch of criminal debt collectors and here is what you need to know:
    BROCKTON MOORE CONSULTING FIRM
This must be a new bunch of criminal debt collectors.

BBB page with no rating and no complaints so far:  http://www.bbb.org/central-california-inland- ... eta-ca-89077550
Facebook page with nothing on it, probably to make them look legitimate:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Brockton-Moore-Consulting-Firm/862556557134303
Address is (gasp) UPS store, who woulda’ guessed?
They have no registration in any state as would be required by law to conduct business.
This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, etc. all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

This MAY actually be legit.  Upon further investigation of the information posted here, and having received a similar call by relatives (similar to those already posted here and on other numbers as listed in BigA's post), Brockton Moore Consulting Firm IS a registered DBA in Riverside County, CA (Murrieta, CA) WITH the corresponding ACTIVE listing for JJD Collections, LLC in MENIFEE CA. Here is the site for the Fictitious Name Search in Riverside:

    Homepage: http://www.asrclkrec.com/
On the left-hand side scroll down under the News heading and click on "Fictitious Business Names". This will take you to the:
    Fictitious Name Search: https://webselfservice.riversideacr.com/Web/action/ACTIONGROUP313S3
(Type in "Brockton Moore" without the quotes.) You will a legitimate listing of an ACTIVE DBA. Take that name and go to  the CA Dept. of State's website and search for JJD Collections:

    http://www.sos.ca.gov/business-programs/
Click on "More About Business Entities" under the "Business Entities" Header.
    LLC is the Search Type.

I am concerned about the other people who posted here about their experience with out of date or even non-existent Sprint bills.

The ONLY thing that can be stated regarding the info I have provided is that it appears to be a legitimate business and legally allowed to conduct business in the state of California. This is NEITHER a comment on NOR an endorsement OF the legality of the business practices as documented on these websites and pages.

    And?

What you have provided is just the fact that Laurer owns several businesses with different names. Happens a LOT in business. How does that make it illegit?

I guess a simpler way to ask is, "how does what you say make it non-legit?" In what way "non-legit?"

I called the number. They answer Brockton Moore Consulting Firm on the answering message. Press "0" to speak to the operator. They want to confirm a WHOLE LOT of personal information which I'm not willing to do.

I kept asking who they were. They respond that they are a civil law firm, civil litigation firm, but never a "collection agency."
They need to send me something, and then I can deal with them IF they are legit.

I'm placing this under the Debt Collector Call Type as that is the way of this post, but honestly, from my experience, I cannot tell.

Just had a call for my wife asking for her in her maiden name. I took a message. Googled the number and see this thread. Has to be total horse [***]. We are not going to bother calling back. If it is legit there has to be legal documents sent to us. They can kiss my ass. Dont give personal info over the phone.

    Perhaps...hehehe.

I googled this Justin Laurer and the info is pretty scarce. Meaning that the ONLY place that CLAIMS to know and list ANYTHING about this Justin Laurer is this here web site. Oh, but one website does tag Justin in a letter to help the little old lady on SS and JJD Collections is taking a whopping $99/month outta her SS. That "getouttadebt.org guy" really gave some rocky advice considering what I've been through concerning banks. You cannot merely change the account number to stop an ACH payment. (At least you couldn't do that "back in the day".) The ACH as well as any other forms of automatic bank drafts would FOLLOW to the next account number unless you put a specific stop on the transaction and then it was $20/transaction.

I'm stopping with first and possibly 2nd tier searching for this. He literally is not worth the time and effort. I'm satisfied with my research.

Something to ponder...if you had a legit collections agency, would YOU be associated with the BBB? I cannot truly answer for you, but I would not. Why pay the BBB (yes, they charge for that listing on their websites and so forth) for the privilege of having every person who reneged on their debt and in your rolledex lamb-baste you on the internet and in the local community for doing what you are in business to do? EVERYONE would scream, "BLOODY MURDER!" It is no surprise to me that none of his businesses are involved with the BBB. And who but scorners and the scorned would care to comment on the "fine service they received while ZYX Collections Company both attempted to collect and to abscond money" from them whilst they themselves were hiring lawyers to clear away the collections? I dunno bout you, but I most likely would not take the time to comment on such a rapacious and loathsome folly as debt collections.

There are numerous OTHER sites like this one where people can redress their grievances against 800 numbers and the like. In my google of "Justin Laurer" there were no other complainant sites. (Remember, google discriminates based on cookies and so forth, so my search may have been compromised by my apolitical views or complete lack thereof.)

My point in ALL of this? With a plethora of people merely saying this is a scam, I would think that after 2 or more years of being in business, there would be more animosity toward JJD Collections, Justin Laurer, Brockton Moore, et al, and more numerous complaint sites with much more detailed info regarding the nefarious ways ascribed to Mr. Laurer,

    Peace to All!

    Lesley "Parrett"
Bogus Scam ConArtist Collection Company trying to collect on debts that are way past ten years of age. Told them to Cease & Desist ALL Further Attempts to Contact. Also told them I owe on NO debts and my name has not been Parrett for well over ten years. The girl was quick to get off the phone when I told them to loose my telephone number.

Block their numbers and tell them the same. They cannot collect on debts of this age. Furthermore, their choice of "script" on how to obtain collections is definitely illegal.

I just received a message from a "James Campbell from CLS private servicing dept" telling me he has papers that need to be delivered to me. A supposed formal complaint against me. ?  The papers will be brought to my home or place of employment, and I am to have a valid ID to receive them. Also, I was given the # to contact his client directly... 844-255-8118!
I knew there was something fishy about the guys tone and lack of info that usually is given in debt collection calls. He was very aggressive.  So, that's why I googled the #, and I found this conversation.
Definitely not gonna be their next victim!

Both calls were from an upstate NY #. But this time he left the same client number he left you.

When is the government going to put into laws in effect to stop these people. Even legitimate businesses to call people should be stopped. They are abusive employers.

    Don't Even try it
I received the same message today on my voicemail.  Like all of you, I googled the number and found this thread.  I am not calling them back. Instead, I will sit and wait for the formal letter to come to my home or place of employment….yea right!!  Beware, any company asking for personal information over the telephone before they state the reason for their call can’t be trusted!
