- Alison David| 1 replyReceived call from restricted phone number. Message went to voice mail. Lady left name of Jennifer Johnson said with a law firm that has a summons to appear in court and an affidavit needing my signature in lieu of appearing in court. Would come to my home address with a local official or to my place of employment to get my signature unless I call them at 844-808-9101. Never stated what this was about.
- Aaron replies to Alison DavidThis same person called my wife's phone looking for me. she left the exact same message, but no real details. Sounds like a scam to me.
- Joe HeraldI got a call from this number from a Jake Thomas. He left a message saying he had a petition that he was going to serve today to my residence or place of employment. I do not have any outstanding loans. I called this number back and it goes to voicemail answering as the County Mediation Services. The voicemail was basically threating me with a warrant for my arrest if I don't call them back. It smells like a scam to me. I don't see how these people keep getting away with this kind of stuff.
- Caller: County Mediation Services
- Mitch fI gotten several threatening calls from these guys. I got fed up and finally called them back. I spoke to their " law department" I demanded that they give me their business address so I could send in writing to stop calling me which if they were a legitimate debt collection agency they would have to comply. He kept giving me the run around and tryed fishing for info from me so finally I got fed up and hung up the phone. Their tactics are very illegal and in my opinion definitely a scam. So far my last warning before it goes to court has happened 4 times now lol.

- TonyThey stopped for a bit then started again recently. Saying that the calls are being logged for "their client". The name they say is calling is so long and muffled it does not even sound like English. I refuse to call because I think that's all they want is a response. Wish they would give up already. I have saved all the messages just to be safe though.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - CWG40They ID themselves as County Mediation Services. Basically they are trying to give people the impression they represent some governmental agency or another. No idea where they are located. I suspect Texas.

- ANNOYM| 2 repliesThis number called my work and spoke to my supervisor who in return messaged me an said if I did not return there phone call within a hour they would issue a warrant. I decided to call this number 844-808-9101 back and talked to some lady that said this was a law office wasn't until the next day I found out the name there going under was Goldman & Birkerwitz Law Office. I have googled this as well as Yahoo this law firm does not exist have even went thru the BBB no listing for this. In talking to the girl when I called the number told me that they had me for bank fraud and started to name over personal information even to the bank I used in 2012 told me they wanted $3200 or I could settle out of court for 490 this time and in a week 490 more which would total something like 980 dollars but was wanting 900 dollars also asked me what could I pay at this time if I could go ahead and pay 150 of it. Said that all the paperwork was at this time processing and that they could do nothing until they had contacted everyone on the list they had and that they would be sending me the paperwork in the mail as to what the case was about. Later I found out they even had my prepaid Visa debit card information that I had to leave the money on the card until they processed it to keep me from having to appear in front of a judge and if I didn't that the lawyers in the case would come after me harder at this time she never gave me the office name or the location. I had to call the company I have my debit with and get them to put a restriction on the card so that they could not get the money from my check that goes into the card every 2 weeks. I also contacted the local state police post.

- JenniferI listened to the message on the voicemail (I don't answer 800 numbers), and the tone of voice was very threatening. What tips me off that it's a scam is that if it was a real debt collector it would say "This is a call for ****". This is a generic message to try to get information. Also there was no correspondence from them, only this phone call.
"We have sent correspondence and attempted to contact you on a matter involving your name and Social Security number but have received no response from either you or your attorney regarding this matter. We have decided to reach out to you one last time to give you the opportunity to be compliant and get your statement of intent to our office. Please be advised if we do not hear back from you today. We will place a statement on your behalf. So contact the office immediately at 844-808-9101. Good day."- Caller: Kauntey Mediation
- I agree replies to TamianthEvery thing you said was the truth but they attacked my daughter first a couple of years ago. Because of this she has panic attacks because it scared her so bad
They need to be sued somehow - Ked replies to ANNOYM| 1 replyReceived the same exact call - but the called came from Texas 832-497-1188 Michael Murphy - but stated the law firm was in NY 844-808-9101 Goldman and Berkowitz - I called the NY Bar Assoc they DO NOT exist -I also called Texas Bar Assoc. DO NOT give you name or any personal infor. ask them their address and bar association number they will shut up really quick - they will say they do not have to provide it and my FTC you right is to have all that information and say if you have something send a "Validation Notice" required for all "Fair Debt Collections" but DO NOT verify and information if they indeed have something on you - then they are required by law to send this notice and if you do call back *67 to block your phone number back to them! BEAT THEM AT THEIR GAME - the FTC does nothing to stop these calls or scammers - if you have the ability to block them through your phone do so!
- ked| 1 replyAlso tell them it is against the law to portray themselves as any government agency or law firm without proper ID - Bar Assoc # - also they don't even answer the phone with a name of a law firm!
- Caller: Goldman and Berkowitz
