Received call asking for supervisor with complaint against me.  No other info provided such as company or name of person calling.  Number is listed as "not valid".  I do not have any owing bills that I haven't already dealt with but I have had identity theft that has been reported to the credit bureaus.  Very aggravating and I intend to ignore.

do not give your personal information to these idiots.  They know your place of employment your date of birth and address.  They know the last four digits of you social security number but they don't have the full number.  They ask you to verify your social security number so they can get the who,e number.  I contacted the BBB and was told not to return these calls.  They said that if you owe any debt you would have received something in the mail or via email.  Don't fall for these scammers!!!!

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

    Some Tips:
    *Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

A guy calling himself Peter Kelly called and left messages on several phones looking for an unrelated person at my number. He urgently expresses he has a lawsuit against this person and needs to locate him. Claims to be from Stark Law Firm and spouts off a case number that is a ref# basically so if you call back. Upon calling the number back they clearly aren't affiliated to any law firm it's a debt collection or An Identity FRAUD scam. Don't give any info. Beware.

Stacy called me too! I paid though, after reading these comments I am kind of iffy! 😩 I hope I didn't get into something I shouldn't have. I did take out a few loans that year but I thought I paid them all back. They set me up on a payment plan.

Call from the number and the woman stated she was calling from a law firm looking for a Kim Dixon. Stated they wanted a HR person and kept asking if it was a place of business. I explained I knew no such person. She then hung up.

Received a call from this number this morning. She left a message stating that she was perusing an urgent matter, but didn't state what. I called back and the person answered " Hello Lawfirm, what is your name?" Which is fishy to begin with. I gave her my name and she transferred me to another woman. The woman claimed that they were a litigation company and we're contacting me about a bad check and fraudulent bank activity against Tior Capital which apparently gave me a payday loan in 2011. She was very rude when I asked questions and wanted debt verification. I told her I will not just give my account information to a stranger over the phone unless I have a written email or debt verification sent through the mail. She said there is no proof that she can give me other than her word. I am not an idiot, it is my legal right to be given proof of debt. I don't even know what this Tior Capital company is, but I can't find much info on them online. This collector is fishy though, and I am not trusting her word, even if I do owe debt, it's not hard to send me an email with proof. It seems like all this is happening in the last few days and they are telling us all the same things.. so they aren't getting any of my money until I know for sure that this is legit.

I fell for it and I made a payment (Half) of the $780 that they want to settle with. I quickly researched and found all this information and I immediately went to my bank and requested a new card with a new number and reported the activity as fraudulent.

This same guy, Peter Kelly has recently started calling me and has also called, of course my husband, my son, my son's lady friend with all the same lingo. Today I told him I would not disclose that info on my SSN to him because I don't know who you are and then he rattled off an address house #, not mine, street name, mine. When I questioned him about who he was with, he said real fast again, so I kept asking "Who are you with and you spell that Stark? From Stark Law Firm? So, I ask him what this was pertaining to and he said, He couldn't divulge that info unless I confirm my SSN.   I told him again I wouldn't confirm any info with him and he hung up! As of today I have 35 saved voice mails from different people, different firm names, and different different case #'s. I told one of them, well if you have my address, come on! My husband told him he was full of crap (not the word (s) he used) and the man got threatening with my husband and my husband told him to bring it on. The man spouted off something about just how big was my husband, My husband told him that he'd meet him anywhere.  Just name the place. He hung up.
I've told others, if you have info as to where I am  bring it on and they he tried to intimidate me with force, again I told him to bring it on, I'm waiting! He hung up!

I have called the DA's office and they told me it was probably a scam because they wouldn't call you, they would just come serve me papers. The DA's office are the ones that told me to save the messages for future, if I choose to pursue anything further I;ll have the evidence.

The woman, named Lynn Harris, called and left a message on Friday. When I called back, she answered, "Law Firm", and when I told her that I was returning her call, she said that she didn't leave the message, it was the legal advisor, and then she put me on hold to find her. Well, I listened to her message again on my phone, and it was indeed the exact same person, which was my first Red Flag. Then she came back on the phone and informed me that my legal advisor was away form her desk, so she would "deal" with me. As I began explaining to her that I had no idea what this was about, I was told, with a very hostile voice, to keep quiet until she was finished telling me why I had been called. Red Flag #2! I told her that this was a scam, that they had sent me an email earlier in the year, and when I spoke to my loan company, they informed me that it was bologna and to report them to the authorities. We then got into a heated conversation, and she hung up on me. Last Red Flag! They have since called both my parents' cell phones and called me again today, using the phone number 844-414-4866, and the same woman that I spoke to is now calling herself Gloria Lancaster. Will this ever end?
