The caller ID said unknown, but I was told in a message to call this number. The person leaving the message said his name was Mark and that he was calling on behalf of the County Legal Claims Office and that I was basically being sued. Said I have 24 hours to call this number or they will make a decision without my consent. I know for a fact this is B.S. and has to be a scam. That isn't the way it works if I were truly being sued. Probably trying to scare people into paying money they don't owe.

Same thing happenned to me. Some guy with County Legal Claims office. Said there was a civil claim against me and I need to call before 24hrs is up or a judgement would be rendered. I did a reverse lokkup on the number and said it wasnt a valid number. He said the last 4 of my ss #, so he looked at some info illigally obtained, I'm sure.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Someone from this number called my work saying they needed to confirm my employment to serve me as i was being sued for unpaid debt. The debt is true and i payed money to settle, it never did feel right. They used the company name Cohen & Associates and even sent me a settlement letter to my email.

if I may ask I'm just wondering what state you are from I just received a call saying it was from Cohen & Associates they gave the last 4 of my social security number and said that if I did not call by the end of the day or legal representative called by the end of the day in regards to this matter that judgment would be rendered on me. I have no clue what this is regarding and it has me very nervous and I'm just trying to find out what other people have gone through if this is a scam. Any information you could give me would be welcomed and thank you very much.

My wife and myself get calls constantly from a company called Cohen & Associates saying they will be moving forward with legal action if we do not pay a certain amount of money.
They have called my son at work, my work, my wife, this is harrassment and needs to be stopped.

someone came to his job and try to leave some papers but he wasnt working that day.....but he was given this #855 674 0510 to call.  He call was told that he own some money but he is from calif.  but  this # is from South Carolina.

These people have called me at work two times.  Today they called my supervisor and told her if I did not pay them they would be sending the police to pick me up.  This is such bs and something needs to be done about them.

Call came in saying basically the same thing. A legal matter had been filed against me and it was tied to my name and SS#. If I or my lawyer didn't call within 24 hrs, a decision would be made without me. Oh, and supposedly papers were already on their way to my residence re: the legal complaint.  It's been 2 weeks since.
