- Amusing| 1 replyThe woman or beast as I like to call her the beast calling from this number is a joke. Very out of line and very uneducated. I feel bad for people who take jobs like this. Not only are they calling everyday and asking for the wrong person but they are not a legit business. I have reported this number to the FBI and the FTC as well as my attorney general and highly suggest you do too. Harassing and unidentifiable phone calls are a waste.

- Scammers should be jailed!I've been getting calls on my work phone. When I answer a recorded message has already started to repeat itself. Leaves 888-870-4030 as a call back number and with a "case file number" to reference. Yeah, right. No legit business calls with a recorded message for anyone to hear about a legit debt. That's illegal.

- mary replies to AmusingThanks so much for the information update. This beast of a woman is harassing me night and day. She is crazy to say the least. How to file a formal complaint with BBB and the State of PA or for that matter the USA. They need to find her and bust her and set her up in a jail cell.
- Tpotgal2| 3 repliesThese people keep repeatedly calling me and stating that they are a legal processing company and that they are calling about a $615 loan from Access Holdings LLC. I have never had a loan from this company and have asked them to send me something in writing and they refuse and threaten to call family members. When I accused them of being scammers they said I was the scammer and that my social security number shows lots of check fraud which is ridiculous. Told them I am reporting them. The person that called said she was Taylor McNeer.
- Caller: Said they were a legal processing company
- Call type: Debt collector
- Alfalfa replies to Tpotgal2How can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - lolo6/4/2015 The past 3 days I have been getting calls from a processer threatening to serve me with papers Mike Hardiman calling from a spoof # 702-763-7448. He leaves a message for you, your family, friends and work saying he will find you, it is really embarrasing but just tell your friends and family that you are being targeted by scam artists. His UNKNOWN company phone is 844-228-2967.
Today 6/9/2015 another call from 213-379-9046 they are also 702-9221803 (using your local # as a spoof), 855-258-6272 or 888-870-4030 spoke with a Paul Dimarco saying I have a lawsuit pending, I asked for proof he said he cannot provide that because they only get a spreadsheet to call a list of people from. I have filed a complaint with Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftc.gov/ they are scam artist.
Iam also in contact with The Law Office of Craig J. Ehrlich, LLC Alex Simanovsky & Associates, LLC Consumer Protection Attorneys they are attorneys who would love to go after these companies this is a free service for us consumer's so if you are a victim of these scam artist who work out of their NY or CA basement.
My 1st advice is submit a complaint to your local State General Office, then Federal Trade Commission and then contact Craig Ehrlich. I know because I was a victim of a scam that was ready to pay them over $600 in debt because I was scared to go to court. these people will say you cannot claim them on your BK or they dont apply to Fair Credit Act, thats a bunch of c***. ***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - James EstepI have received two calls from this number identified by the caller as AFS. The caller would not identify the full name of AFS, was verbaly aggressive, threatened to have my social security canceled and to have me arrested.

- They're Calling Me Too replies to Linda| 1 replyReceived a call from Bob English at 1-888-870-4030. When I called the number the receptionist answered AFS. Mr. English told me I owed a loan to TJF Corp. from 2008. Told him I do not have any loans outstanding back that far. I also told him I didn't recall the name TJF. He explained that TJF is an umbrella company that makes payday loans and they have various entities under their umbrella. I asked for proof of the debt in writing and he refused saying I already received numerous notices and ignored them (I never received any notices). He offered me a chance to set up a payment plan but I said no. I am not making any payments until I see the debt in writing and can check my bank statements for 2007 and 2008. He hung up. After 7 years someone calls about a delinquent loan? I think not. I have reported this to my state's Banking Department, Attorney General, Consumer Protection Bureau and the Better Business Bureau.
- BigA replies to They're Calling Me TooFederal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
