- tjm| 4 repliesWell this is a new number on me. Apparently the scammers are using a Robo caller with this number that displays on the caller ID but it doesn’t look like a phone number to me (i’m no expert) it almost looks like a fake Social Security number or an IP address possibly. And when I enter the number as it displayed on my caller ID here on 800notes.com I get a page that displays as what looks to me like an archive file in the 800notes.com system. There seem to be a lot of phone numbers listed along with recorded dates and times in which these phone numbers were apparently reported on the 800 notes website as possibly being scam phone numbers. I honestly have no idea what the heck is going on here but it seems like a major security breach to me. Everybody be aware the scammers may now have an entire online file archive of reported phone numbers straight off of the 800 notes servers. The scammers are trying to conduct an Amazon customer service scam. If you get phone calls from scammers such as these do not give them any personal information hang up and report this to the FTC. I can’t why I did press one on my phone just to see if it would connect me to a real person. It did and when I asked the scammer for password authentication and the username in order to cross reference with files I have (note I was just playing with the guy) he didn’t say anything. All I heard was silence on the line and then I got a busy signal. I guess I spooked him I have no idea.
- Caller: No name displayed on the caller ID just the numbers I listed above
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- BigA replies to tjm| 1 replyI have no clue what you mean by a security breach or using numbers off of an 800notes.com archive. It is simply a spoofed phone number. Nothing more, nothing less so how about we don't get all drama queen about it? No phone number in the North American Numbering plan can start with a 0 or a 1 in either the area code or the prefix (exchange). If you don't know what "Caller ID Spoofing" is then you can look those words up and you will find that both the FCC and Wikipedia have very simple and easy to understand explanations for what it is.
- Kat* replies to BigAI'm thinking "tjm" needs a new tin-foil hat made out of American tin-foil instead of that stuff from China.
- MikeHuntleton replies to tjm| 1 replyThis is what happens when someone tries to interpret what they find in the search results, but in reality have no clue what they are talking about. You found a link of the "sitemap" for 800notes.
As for the Amazon scammer, they obviously knew you were a waste of time and hung up. - Nimrod replies to MikeHuntleton
Are you saying that the scammers considered "tjm" too dumb for them to even try to scam?MikeHuntleton wrote:As for the Amazon scammer, they obviously knew you were a waste of time and hung up.
