strange number...

lots and lots of texts on my phone from that number

same deal as above.

have almost $300 not including tax worth of text mess. from that number. I called verizon about 20 times in the past few months trying to stop it finally today I got someone who believes they have blocked the number.  I hope it works. Verizon can't say who the company is.  But if they had to eat the charges instead of making us pay for it maybe they would fix the problem.  Doesn't seem fair. We get unknown charges from a company they can't identify and there's no easy way to stop it.

got hundreds of texts on last months ($1000!) verizon cell phone bill...still working it out with verizon. They're saying it's a text messaging service.

I saw your message about the 0080001406 phone number charges on your bill.  I had about $100 of these on my bill this month.  Did you ever work it out with Verizon?  Do you have any advice for me on how to handle it with them?

I just received my verizon bill and had a double billing,  with the same # 0080001406 as you.  What has verizon said?  did you have to pay the charges for the calls.  I am going to go to a verizon store at figure this aout, but I would like some feedback from others.  thank you

These numbers are for mobile IM. When you use AIM or MSN or Yahoo it will show up with those numbers you found. You will be able to determine that the messages are related to the Mobile IM client by looking at the originating/terminating short codes:
AOL - 9000800014xx
Yahoo - 9000800013xx
MSN - 9000800012xx.
Airtime is only used when you first download the mobile IM application. Messages can still be received after the application is exitted, if you haven't logged off.

0080001406 keeps calling

Do you know any further details on this number ? My recent bill from Verizon had over 500 calls to this number from my teenager's line. Yet Verizon states they cannot help me identify.
   I would appreciate any help you could give.

This is a mobile IM number that is registered as a land line. I wasn't as bad off as any of the other posters, but I had somewhere between $50 and $100 from this number and the other mobile IM number on my son's phone (0080001406 and 0080001146). Mobile IM is a free download but it uses texting, so if you only have 250 texts like we did but had 640 on the bill that can be a problem. I called verizon before the end of our cycle before the bill came out because I was monitoring my son's phone and called them right away. They were really nice and backdated the $15 texting package to cover all charges and issued a credit for my $5 texting package. We've bought the usage control package and blocked these numbers. My son is going to uninstall this when he gets home, and I am going to switch him back to the 250 texts starting with our next cycle. The usage controls cost $5, but I can limit him to 250 texts and 500 minutes. We were lucky.

so if my husband texts a 008 number that means he is texting a landline?  Not sure I understood completely but wanted to know who he is texting.

Jpy- Did you find out what that text was?  I saw that outgoing text on my boyfriends phone and I don't know what it is.  Please give me some info!

How can you find out where the calls are coming from?

I have been finding these same numbers on my husbands phone! I cannot figure out who he would be texting and verizon never gave me an answer! So how do we find out who these guys are texting? Its a mobile IM or a landline??

I know with gmail I can send texts to someones phone. Maybe that is where the calls are coming from.
