Got a missed call n when i call it says number dont exist.

Called this number and this numbers does not exist.

Caller don't talk

this is the second time this number has called me. When I call back it says the number is incorrect?!

Got sevaral calls from this number don't know who it is.answer the phone but no one talked

This number keeps calling me. Never leaves a message.  When I answer no one talks and when I call back number does not exist.  Calls me at all times of day and night.  Want it to STOP!

Keep on getting calls from this number (087 310 8520), try and call back and get told the number does not exist!!!!!!!!! Would like to know how do they get my number and who the hell this is?????????

If so, it is a South African "special services" number.  The full number, if dialed in South Africa, would exclude the "27" and, in its place, include a leading "0".

The "873" indicates that the number is for a "value-added service," which might mean that you pay a premium rate, some of which is paid to the owner of the number, if you call the number back.

One of the popular overseas scams today is to call random telephone numbers using the caller ID of one of these lines, and hope that the people who are called will instinctively call back without noticing that it is a premium rate call.  Your phone company then pays the terminating phone company the premium amount for the call, the scammer gets his share of the proceeds, and then your phone company charges you directly.  And they are unlikely to take the charge off your bill because they've already paid for the call themselves, and you DID deliberately dial the number yourself, notwithstanding the fact that you didn't know what you were doing.

If the number shows on your caller ID as one that you cannot call back, or if your line is restricted from placing long distance calls, be happy.  Most caller ID units and phones available in the U.S. and Canada are not able to display the full number, including the country code, of many overseas numbers, anyway.  And the fact that the number is showing up as "087..." suggests that, unless you actually received the call in South Africa, you are NOT getting the country code for this number and would not be able to call it back, anyway.

Another possibility is that the caller ID number is being spoofed, but then there would be no particular financial incentive for the caller to ccall people all over the place, ringing once or twice and then hanging up.

By the way, South African 087 numbers were previously used for sex chat lines.

Got a very peculiar inquisitive call from +27872405801 when I tried to phone back it said "number does not exist".  Where can I trace the origin?
