- Robby| 4 repliesI am suppose to call this number and was on it for 2hrs and 48 mins and I did not ring this number .My provider , engineering section are saying it is a valid call. Has my mobile been spoof or hack or what'ever .I am frustrated. Can you help?
- MikeHuntleton replies to Robby| 3 repliesLack of information will limit anyone trying to help you, but If you are trying to say you are being charged for a call you did not make and your service provider is saying you did make the call, then either you have accidentally "butt dialed" the number, someone used your phone or your service provider is shady. Someone spoofing your number does not impact your actual phone or connect through your service provider, it is simply a fake display on the recipient's caller ID.
I can only say think about the time frame they claim the call was made and try to remember what you were doing at that time. If there is no possible way you or someone around you made the call from your phone, then I would start looking for a new service provider. - Robby replies to MikeHuntleton| 2 repliesTks Mike my wife is deaf and she did not make the call anyway she does not know who the caller is. I was told 116 numbers could be dangerous . Is this so it seems to be connected to UK or Cananda ? Provider says the call is valid .I am not happy.. The mobile was with Optus then.it is now with Vodaphone.A few seconds ago she just received a call from Sydney 02 number and I switched off the phone.
- BigA replies to RobbyNo phone number in the North American Numbering Plan can start with a 0 or a 1 in either the area code or the prefix. There would be no way for you to dial this number as it would not connect.
- MikeHuntleton replies to RobbyIf your provider insists it is valid, then they should be able to tell you where that number's location is. I am going to guess you are in Australia, since you said you use Vodaphone and you got a call from a Sidney number. If so, then wouldn't this number format be (11) 6140 0437 for your Country? And if you called another Country, then wouldn't a Country Code be required in addition to that number?
The 116 Area Code is in the UK (Leicester), so for you to call that number, you would have needed to add the +44 Country Code, then the number.
Seems to me your service provider should have been able to answer your questions easily and if they can't help you with this number you didn't call, I would strongly suggest you find a new one. I could not find any area codes with (11) in Australia, so I would think they are ripping you off.
Here is how you would make an international call, from Vodaphone:
