- NimrodForward unwanted spam/scam texts to 7726 (SPAM) and let your phone service provider deal with them.
That number was set up by the phone companies to combat spam texts and they can shutdown offending phone numbers.
Never reply with "STOP", scammers will not honor the request (they have no honor to begin with) and it only verifies that they have texted to a valid number and a person who reads their texts. It will not STOP the texts and may actually make them more frequent.
Never click on a link in such a text as it may cause malware to be inserted on your phone, and even if it does not, just as with replying "STOP" the scammers will know they reached a valid number. - DonD| 1 replyReceived the following text message:

These type of texts are designed to get victims to click a link, then through the redirects you wind up installing Malware (malicious script) into your Browser. They can be simple Browser hijackers that create popups to keyloggers/trackers that record every keyboard press along with visited websites, then sends it to the scammers.
Most times, the "ending" website has nothing to do with the reasoning they sent the link. The "reason" they sent a text was to get you to click the link, which will redirect to multiple websites or try tricking you into installing some app. Some websites are designed to phish credit card or personal info on click bait sites they get paid for, while others just redirect to a News Article or a search engine.
Here is an example from a scam link's redirect path I captured:

https://us.norton.com/internetsecurity-how-to ... t-messages.html
Never click on a link and especially NEVER install an app from a website if you did click on a link. A confirmed Malware/Spyware app is circulating, called FluBot and is installed when a victim receives a text message, asking them to install a tracking app due to a 'missed package delivery'. If you are expecting a package, then go to the official website of the delivery company and track it from their website.
