Got a text saying it was fedex...driver couldn't deliver my parcel today with a hyper link.  Fedex had already delivered a package earlier that afternoon and it was the only thing I was expecting.  Would rate it as phishing.

    Malicious Links

These type of texts are designed to get victims to click a link, then through the redirects you wind up installing Malware (malicious script) into your Browser. They can be simple Browser hijackers that create popups to keyloggers/trackers that record every keyboard press along with visited websites, then sends it to the scammers.
Most times, the "ending" website has nothing to do with the reasoning they sent the link. The "reason" they sent a text was to get you to click the link, which will redirect to multiple websites or try tricking you into installing some app. Some websites are designed to phish credit card or personal info on click bait sites they get paid for, while others just redirect to a News Article or a search engine.

Here is an example from a scam link's redirect path I captured:

    https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2020/04/don ... d-text-messages
    https://us.norton.com/internetsecurity-how-to ... t-messages.html

Never click on a link and especially NEVER install an app from a website if you did click on a link. A confirmed Malware/Spyware app is circulating, called FluBot and is installed when a victim receives a text message, asking them to install a tracking app due to a 'missed package delivery'. If you are expecting a package, then go to the official website of the delivery company and track it from their website.

    Fake Delivery text scams:

Mike, Good advice. But if the scam URL comes in by SMS text are iPhones and Android phones both equally vulnerable to malware/spyware as a Windows PC? Maybe

The latest smish url I received is: http://crehign.shop//#Home-Depot.php

This captures the URL locations of the websites, including HTTP redirects and client-side redirects via JavaScript or Meta fields.

       http://crehign.shop// Page URL
       http://crehign.shop//Home-Depot.php HTTP 301
       https://dayoboat.com/ffa71d0d4d3e1d8000/69 Page URL

    Redirected requests

There were HTTP redirect chains for the following requests:
    Request Chain 27

       http://rockblue.art/aff_c?offer_id=437&aff_id ... 596&aff_sub4=69 HTTP 302
       http://127.0.0.1/

These scammer websites can determine if you are coming in from a PC browser or a mobile phone browser and don't respond the same way or at all when browsing from a PC.

I think these smishing texts are being sent via http://141sms.com
self-described as Bulk SMS Company in Nigeria.

The fact it is a SMS message being sent with a link implies it is meant for phones to view them and even though a PC may view at a larger pixel, it can still read them just the same.  Changing the user agent to a smartphone agent hasn't displayed it any different for me.

There are hundreds of those SMS Bulk companies out there who are used for marketing, banking and media entertainment.  The "141SMS" doesn't mean its the company responsible for sending texts with this area code.

    Quote:
if the scam URL comes in by SMS text are iPhones and Android phones both equally vulnerable to malware/spyware as a Windows PC?

Any malicious scripting is targeting phone browsers file system, but generally they want you to download something for malicious apps to infect your phone's system files.  Most of those redirects scammers use are for tracking the phone that clicked on the link and they use fancy scripts to prevent each redirected url from saving in the History.
