- Nimrod replies to Isyss| 1 replyDefinitely a scam since 141-010-0041 is not a valid phone number and was obviously spoofed. Under the North American Numbering Plan (which covers the United State and its territories, Canada and most Caribbean countries), no phone number can have an area code (first group of three digits) or exchange (second group of three digits) that starts with a 0 or 1 (and this number does both).
As a general rule of thumb:
Forward unwanted spam/scam texts to 7726 (SPAM) and let your phone service provider deal with them.
That number was set up by the phone companies to combat spam texts and they can shutdown offending phone numbers.
Never reply with "STOP", scammers will not honor the request (they have no honor to begin with) and it only verifies that they have texted to a valid number and a person who reads their texts. It will not STOP the texts and may actually make them more frequent.
Never click on a link in such a text as it may cause malware to be inserted on your phone, and even if it does not, just as with replying "STOP" the scammers will know they reached a valid number. - RA replies to Nimrodthank you for those tips. did not know about fwd’ing to SPAM 7762 to combat spammers
