Got several calls from this number over a two day period.  It's the old "Government Grant Scam" where they want you to go to Walmart to collect a $9000 grant, AFTER you give them the number off a pre-paid Visa card (that's why they want you to go to Walmart).  I played along for a while to see how far they would go, and got passed from the first guy to his "supervisor" because I was asking so many questions.  I finally hung up on him because we needed to go out...when we came back home an hour later our called ID indicated that they had called back 9 times while we were out.  NINE TIMES!!!  I blocked the number.

I am a Canadian living in Canada and they were trying to tell me that this was a once in a life time chance for me a Canadian citizen to get money from the U.S. government. I asked so many questions that they finally just got mad and hung up on me.

I let this number and all others that I do not recognize go to voicemail  If they don't leave a message there I do a reverse phone lookup. Usually by then I know it's a scam or sales call that I have no interest in. Also if the number calls over and over I block the number.

Here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA where you can report phone scams/spams, or learn more about them.

First, look elsewhere on this site for an Article, entitled "Where to Report Phone Crime".  (It may appear in the column to your right).

For a more frequently updated list of complaint sites, with links to government web pages, look here:

I knew it was a scam but answered to find out what kind. A guy with a very heavy accent, possibly Indian, tells me his name is Jared Smith or something else extraordinarily American calling from the US government. I told him to stop with this scam, and called him out on his BS. At first he tried to deny it was a scam but after a while he says "Does your p*ssy smell funny?" I cracked up laughing and hung up the phone.

If a person with a heavy indian accent and broken english can somehow work for the US Government, and hand out grants on a prepaid card that WE need to deposit money and give them all of the details on the card that are not reloadable after the initial amount is deposited, I'm sorry "Jared Smith" but Americans are dumb, but not that dumb.
