Well it seems like they are at it again. I just received a call yesterday from this same number (202-239-2835), telling me that it was my final notice, the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. With all the technology in the world today you would think that these people could be found and arrested for all their attempts to steal others identities.

I can tell you the the US Government knows exactly where these people are. So do the major US Networks. CBS looked one up in Asia & went into their offices & told them what they were doing. These are shops in foreign countries where their Governments don't care, take bribes, or think that scamming American's isn't a crime. Here's 3 things. (1) Don't answer phone numbers you do not know (2) Don't call them back, (This applies to any number given to you in a fax, text, email, or voice message) check them first. (3) NEVER believe your caller is who they say they are. Investigate.

I received the same phone call 1/15/2015 at 9am.  
Extremely funny, like you said it's Internal Revenue Service not Internal Revenue Service(s).
To make this even more unbelievable, I currently work for the IRS, and have for the past 20 years.  While working (for the IRS) I received this call.  
No one ever said these scammers are incredibly intelligent.  Plus I referred the number to TIGTA (internal police)

I just received the same phone call, but it came in as a Restricted number. The message told me that they had been trying to contact me and this was my final notice. They said they were filing suit against me and I needed to call the (202)-239-2835 number to speak to them. This was an automated voice recording. I do not have anything due to the IRS, so knew this call was a scam. Nice try, scammers...but you are not getting anywhere with me! I am not stupid!

I got the same call 20 minutes ago from 726-595-6554, saying the same thing: Final Notice and Lawsuit with the number to call as 202-239-2835.  Funny-Area code 726 is unassigned on Area Codes.

Received same call from 723 597 6534 (not a good area code) . Please track these scammers down.

I got the same call coming from Washington, I called it back ot doesn't go through. I called the 202 number, it rings and then busy signal. How do these creeps get our numbers?

Same as everyone here I guess.  Got a Call from "Internal Revenue Services"  Haha "Services". Not smart enough to even say the name right, and that they were filing a law suit against me. Looked the number up right away.

Same story at our house. I've had two computer generated messages from the "IRS" this week. Very annoying, but thankful I'm intelligent enough to know these are scammers. Hoping nobody is caught in their web of deceit.

Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

this is the automated voicemail message left on my cell - verbatim

"Hello. We have been trying to reach you. this call is officially from IRS, Internal Revenue Service, The reason that this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 202-793-8674. I repeat 202..."

Mmmmm can't even speak English properly!

btw, the original phone # displayed on my phone was 729-598-6504

Automated voice saying this is my last notice from "Internal Revenue Services" This is about the 6th last notice I have gotten. I've finally had enough and blocked the number. Don't they know the IRS doesn't call?

Received a message stating they wanted to talk to me or my lawyer, threatened to go to my work and talk to my employer or serve me at home! Each time I dont respond they call with more threats to serve me papers! 877-31-3902 is another number they've called from! I don't owe money to IRS or anyone else!

I received a call from someone telling me they were from IRS and I owed money on my taxes from the last 5 yrs from filing incorrectly. He said I was facing criminal charges for tax fraud. He transferred me to another "officer" who gave me more details regarding how I could be imprisoned for not paying. I had to pay today. Had to keep them on the phone while going to the bank they didn't want credit card numbers but I had to go take out at least half the amount owed. Then had to go purchase iTunes gift cards because the IRS works with apple and some other company he mentioned and they would receive the fund through them. I was foolish enough to do so. When he asked for card numbers, I questioned him. He got very defensive and told me I was accusing him of not being who he said he was and he gave me his direct line. I would receive paperwork in the mail once payment was received by giving him said numbers. I asked what info of mine he could provide me with, being he works for the IRS he'd have some access to my SS#, address, etc. he told me he didn't have that info he was going based on the info given to him by the person I spoke to before him. He continued to tell me I was accusing him, looking at jail time and that all of my assets could be frozen or seized if I didn't make payment. I hung up, didn't answer further calls and have been on hold waiting for a definite IRS representative to answer my call

657-227-6063. This is another number, that kept calling stating that I have a lawsuit from IRS. Don't these people have anything better to do.

202-459-4564 -aka- 202-239-2835 is an Indian (as in India) IRS Lawsuit Scam. Just report the call to the IRS and the FTC, then block the number.
