- Kayla replies to Penny BaroodyIf the IRS needed to contact you, they likely would not do so by phone. Also, they would've contacted you by mail long before it got to this point.
- NancyI have been getting phone calls from this number twice a day since a month ago. I have not picked up the phone, since I searched this number on line and found out that it is scam. Since I know I have not done anything wrong and any legal matter is usually is treated by certified mail, I refuse to answer that call and I have to find the way to block that number.
- AaronThey called me
- LizWe received a call on the home landline on Saturday 7/12 from Officer Logan Smith on tel. 202-241-2296. He said he was from Criminal Investigation and was call regarding "a miscalculation on income tax returns." It didn't sound right 1. IRS always communicate via post and/or directly with our accountant/taxation lawyer. 2. What government department would call on a Saturday?!
- Caller: Criminal Investigation
- Call type: Debt collector
- TrishI just received a call from 202-241-2296, said his name was "Jim Arthur" with the Criminal Investigation Division and said there was a warrant issued and a federal criminal investigation underway on my home address. If I don't return the call, local police department will be notified and a "serious situation will unfold on you". Blocking.
- RexThis is a well known IRS scam perpetrated - in this particular case - from Pakistan (these scammers use Magicjack Voice over IP phones which makes them appear to call from the US capital). You can usually tell by the thick accents. Sometimes they use spoofed numbers to seem real.
