Recorded message saying the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you for monies owed them, and gives you this phone number

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

I received a call from subject number this morning. I was warned that the IRS was filing a suit against me, but no further details, I was told to call 202-241-2439 immediately to take care of the matter. That was all.

We received this call which left this voice message on our phone in Huntington Beach, California on the morning of Feb. 4, 2015

My phone number is registered as a HB number as well, and I received the same call- watch out OC Residents. It's a scam for sure!
