This is some coward hiding behind a magicJack device plugged in at some God-forsaken corner of the world where there is Internet service.  He's no better than a common criminal using a magicJack device and your fear the same way a common thief uses a toy pistol hidden in the pocket of his overcoat to make a bulge that looks like a real gun.

You can verify that this is a magicJack number by searching for it at http://www.phonevalidator.com .

This scam has been extensively researched at
http://www.pindropsecurity.com/consumer-fraud ... irs-phone-scam/ and it was found that magicJack numbers are frequently used, and many of the scammers are operating out of India.  There is even an audio recording of a call returned to one of these numbers and a written transcript of the recording contained in links from the Pindrop Security blog.

MagicJacks are readily obtainable outside of the United States for about $100 US and can come with up to a year of free calling to the U.S. and Canada.  In India, see, for example,

So it doesn't take long to turn a profit, even if only 0.1% of the people they call are stupid enough to believe the scammers.

In addition to the regular reporting channels, e.g., the Department of the Treasury, the FTC, and/or your local state attorney general's office, you might also report the abuse to YMAX Corp.  This is a fully-owned subsidiary of the company that sells magicJacks.  YMAX Corp. is in charge of assigning telephone numbers to magicJack devices.  I have seen reports that they are pretty good at responding to complaints and may be able to permanently shut off a magicJack device, if necessary, so that it can never be used again.

got a very scary call claiming  ey ere irs  and to call  eimmediately,  used my name and phone number  ut ended with " all the best" phrase  no way government would sign off with nicities on a phone call!!

Got a call from 2025068063, pretending to be IRS.  A person, who called told me that I own back taxes, when I said that I don't, he said to go and f....ck myself.

I received an audio message alleging from the IRS from telephone number (2020 506 8063. I just delete the message knowing it is a scam.

They said they were an officer from the IRS.

The people calling from 1-202-506-8063 are IRS a Impersonator scammers.  I have reported them to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1-800-366-4484.  You can file a report at www.tigta.gov.  They are aware of these scumbags and have so many complaints their mailbox is full, so it's better to log a complaint online.

got the call phone from 202 506 8063 IRS, IT IS SCAM........................... I told them, FBI They are aware of these scumbags

this fist time, I got this type of scam. I just hangup.

Received a call from Internal Affairs. It was a recorded voice and they stated I had to call back immediately or they were going to take legal actions. Well, I knew it was a scam but I had to call the number back to give them a piece of my mind. A live person answered with an accent and he wanted my name. I refused and once I questioned who they were he hung up on me. I knew it was a scam..

7:45 in the morning! Knew the IRS doesn't do business like this. The robot voice ended the call with the phrase "take care". Ha!

I got a call from them in mid March 14, they knew my SS# and how much I owed IRS. THey scared me so .I fell in to the trap. But . Explained I didnt have ajob, they said they would leave me alone for 6 months. Plus they had a Accent. Today they called again and threatened me by VM. I had a feeling it was not the IRS, So I called back and it said it was a magic jack #.
So beware. They are scammers!!.
