I received the call today (10/6/14) around 10:42am.  I did not answer but a message was left from "Francis" asking our recorder are we listening?……. can you hear me, can you hear me??  You know it's scammers when they use a phone number and claim their name as: Washington, D.C.

Received a message on the machine this morning:  recording: "Remain on the line for a very important message"  Live person:  "This is LaDonna, can you hear me okay?"  Repeated twice then disconnected.
Smells like a scam to me.......

Called every day the last 4 days. Left message today. "This is Chris" can you hear me hello? can you hear me?

Called 10 am Saturday...ID said Washington, DC....did not answer, when voice mail kicked in, there was no one there and no message.

Called twice today 9:00am and 10:00am.  Second one left a partial voice mail "Stay on the line and a representative will be with you in 30 seconds."  Then a lot of background noise and hung up.

Called again @ 11am....same drill

i finally answered the phone said they were from AARP. Told them to stop calling and to take me off their list.

Got a call today asking can you hear  me, when I asked why are you calling she hung up, I guess the do not call feature does not work, I still get calls fro unknown numbers

You're on the DNC list? Then it's working fine, because a LEGAL telemarketer would not call you. So if you get a call, what does it tell you about the caller? (Hint: think cri - min - nal!) If legal telemarketers will not call you this only leaves foreign & domestic scammers who wish to part you from your money/personal/financial information. Do not answer, hang up, do not call back. Please consider a call blocking device/cell phone app.

Got a call from this number a few minutes ago. Caller ID showed Washingyon DC. Male caller asked repeatedly if I could hear him. He said his name was Sandy. I hung up.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
