Frequent calls looking for someone we've never heard of.  When I call them to stop the calls, they are elusive about what they do.  I finally pulled out of one of them that they are a MN based company that does "personal financial services".  They are obnoxious, rude, and disruptive.

I finally called this number back - and they said they are a "finance company" because I was receiving continual calls - no message left - they put a phone number on an automatic dial system, so when you answer - no one is there of course. I told them to remove my number IMMEDIATELY. So we'll see if they do.

The company is BCR, or Bureau of Collection Recovery. Their website is www.bureauofcollection.com and has info on their corporate officers. I include a little more info below, if you scroll down.

You should contact the Minnesota Attorney General’s office about these guys if they are harassing you. The AG's website on debt collection is: www.ag.state.mn.us/Consumer/Finance/debfactsheet.asp

Here is something I pulled down off a debt collection industry website about BCR:

“The Bureau of Collection Recovery (BCR) and UniversalSystems(R) today announced the appointment of Shauna Rice as vice president of Business Development. Shauna brings more than a decade of experience in service offerings in the Telecommunications industry, and twenty years of sales and sales leadership experience.

Joel Lewis, president of the Bureau of Collection Recovery and UniversalSystems(R), commented, Shauna’s appointment as a senior member of our team is a statement of both her ability and experience in the industry, and our desire to maximize our potential in the Telecommunications sector. In her previous roles, Shauna has consistently exceeded target, and her unique and proven skills will be an invaluable resource to us and to our clients. Shauna joins us at an exciting time -- UniversalSystems(R) and the Bureau of Collection Recovery are growing through increased demand for our services from both new and existing clients.

About the Bureau of Collection Recovery

The Bureau of Collection Recovery (BCR) is a nationally licensed, independently owned collection agency specializing in providing a variety of accounts receivable solutions to both large and small companies, including pre charge-off, (first and third party), primary, and secondary account placements. BCR is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and can be found on the internet at www.bureauofcollection.com. Advanced in its use of technology, such as Avaya’s Mosaix Predictive Dialing System, BCR is especially known as the developer of the UniversalSystems(R) Right Party Contact Solution, a patented method of vastly increasing penetration while reducing costs when using a predictive dialer.”

Someone from this number has called my phone repeatedly. Like other postings, the caller does not leave a voice mail. They keep asking for a specific person (Clifton Chung) and I've told them multiple times that they are calling the right number, but I don't know that person and he has no connection to my number. I'm taking the advice of another posting and contacting the Minnesota Attorney General's office.

This phone number belongs to a collection agency BCR out of Birmingham, AL and they will not take you off their list until they get who they are looking for. They have call my business repeatedly looking for an Eshaw Thompson and I have told them repeatedly that this person does not live or work at this number and to remove it from their list. They said they would and here it is 6 months later and they called again looking for the same person. So ggod luck getting them to stop calling you.

Got 2 calls from 202-607-2731, wouldn't answer so I called back, it was a collection agency looking for my husband, said he had an outstanding bill with T-Mobil, I told them had never done business with T-Mobil, so they started asking me questions and found out they had the wrong person with the same name, I told them not to be calling back and the gentleman was very pleastant, told me okay and to have a nice day.

    Hi everyone:

I have been inundated with calls on a daily basis (sometimes 4-8 calls daily) from BCR in New Jersey, whose parent company is Bureau of Collection Recovery, Inc., 7575 Corporate Way, Eden Praire, Minnesota 55344.

I have been getting the calls from 202-607-2731 and they have been telling me and my wife they have taken my number off their revolving list.  As of today, I spoke with a guy name Mike Paumen (maybe everyone should call him)who says he is the manager and has once again stated that he will remove my number.  Wanna bet???

The only way to stop these people are to file a class action in the Courts in Minnesota, however, to do so there is a cost factor.  If we can get 1000 such people to contribute 5 dollars to an attorney in Minnesota with everyone's name, then action can be taken.  In a class action, they can sue for damages and each person can get more than his or her share refunded.

If you like the idea, please respond and we will see where we go from here.

Have recieved 25 calls in on day !!!!!!!! I am losing my patience!  Did have 2 voice mails to call another number spoke with a very rude obnoxious woman who promised my number would be deleted from their list..well it hasn't happened !! This is harrasment !  I am sure if someone knows an atty and if possible for class action suit the atty if they found it might be lucartive for them would take the case on a contingency basis.  After this aggravation (cell phone) I would not be sending anyone $5.00.  that smacks of a scam also.

Terry, at extension 4110 is a piece of garbage.  Calling me demanding money for a Verizon account that was open for one day because they couldn't properly port my old number with a different carrier.  The Verizon people we helpful (somewhat surprisingly) and dropped the charges.  Terry, on the other  hand, lispy-dumpster-eating-troglodyte piece of [***] that he is, can lick my sack.

Ive had several calls from this number as well. You have to be careful though. They have many many extensions so just be aware of any number that starts with 202-607-xxxx. i.e. 2731,2732,2733
I went to the National Do Not Call Registry, and filed a complaint. make sure to type in the company name, Bureau of Collection Agency. Registering your number at this site actually helps, but you have to re-register every year. I registered last year, and never once did I receive any sort of these annoying calls.
