- MKI have had similar numbers call me 4 times today, about every 2 hours. I live in the greater DC area and I thought maybe it was someone I knew. Although I make it a habit never to answer phone calls from a number I don't know. i called them back and the message said the company was called BCR then they put me on hold, I hung up a minute later. We'll see what happens when they call back and I decide to answer.

- DFireOnly| 1 replyI have posted for help at a legel advice web site but it will take all of us to do this the more that apply to this post the better chances we might have of putting a stop to this problem.

I would like to find a class action lawyer to go against the BUREAU OF COLLECTION RECOVERY, 7575 Corporate Way, Eden Prairie, Minnesota 55344 for harassment. I have been to other sites and read the complaints and its about the same all the way around some of them owe money and some don't but we all have the same problem Harassment. Phone calls from Sunday to Saturday 2 or more calls a day. I counted as high as 6 in one day. You answer the phone and wait till they pick up or they might not pick up at all. I have some of the numbers to list and as more people fill in to this site I'm sure they will have others. I have to go back to my call logs to find more. I counted with and with out the 1 in front of the number list here just from March 8th 2007 to yesterday 175 calls. 202-607-2806 next 202-607-2749. I know they have more and I will edit this post as I find them in the log. If the collection can be removed or the harassment stopped we all can live with it. I would like to see them sued as well for the harassment and time away from other thing we might of been doing.
This is way out of hand and they need to be put to a stop. If any lawyer can help we would deeply appreciate it.- Call type: Debt collector
- Jan Adkins| 1 replyThey call and I answer. They never say anything. They should have no reason to be calling the company that I work for. So, why do they call??
Just to irritate people??? If it continues, I am going to report them to the Federal Communications Commission. In most areas you can block calls that come in like this--anonymous and annoying calls by hanging up. Right away pick up the receiver, listen for the dial tone and dial *77. You will hear a broken dial tone then a regular long dial tone. That means the block has been activated. Hopefully it will keep them from calling your number again.- Caller: BCR

- Manda replies to DFireOnlyI too have been getting several calls a day from these numbers. The one time I answered a man asked for people that I do NOT know. I told him it was the wrong number, yet they continue to call. I would be interested in a class action law suit as well.

- smsI also get calls frmo this number all of the time on my business cell phone. They keep asking for someone I have never heard of. I told them I don't know who the person is, but they keep calling! I asked to speak to a manager and without even asking, their representative told me no managers were available. This is making me crazy, waking me up in the morning, and wasting my cell phone minutes!
- Boom shakaAsk to speak with Brandon or Phil. They are both managers there and can help with taking your number off the call list.

- p1771 replies to Shell| 6 repliesi need the addres of this collecting agency from that number 202-607-2749,my lawyer will take care of them
- BillDon't identify who is calling nor whom they are calling, just a demand to call a number. On a Sunday? Real businesslike and isn't collectors prevented from calling on Sunday? I KNOW they are not allowed to harass those who are NOT their "customers" on ANY day.

- Don replies to p1771| 3 repliesOkay, here's the skinny from a former debt collector, and a message in reply to the guy from BCR who posted his comments.
1) If you're told by a person not to call their private home phone number, you cannot legally keep calling them. No debtor needs to send you a cease and desist letter for that.
2) You're company is not the good collection agency you make it out to be. When I began getting harrassing phone calls from BCR (for what I don't know - I've checked my credit report and I am current with everyone I owe money to) 3 of the 4 times I called in a 15 minute period your collectors hung up on me. Twice when I asked them to tell me who BCR was, and once when I asked the person I was talking with to give me their name.
3) The fact that you're working for a collection agency doesn't keep you from identifying who you are when you're asked. In fact, in Alaska you are required to divulge that information upon being asked.
4) BCR makes it impossible for people to find out who they are, or how to send them any correspondence in order to have them stop harrassing you over the phone because they don't give you any information when you call them. So their claim of just sending them a cease and desist letter is a bunch of B.S. unless you know their address. Their address, by the way is: Bureau of Collection Recovery, Inc., 7575 Corporate Way, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. You should be able to find on this site an excellent copy of a cease and desist letter.
5) My last piece of advice is to contact your states Attorney General's office the first time you get a call from BCR to record and file a complaint against them.
As for the collector who is laughing as he causes innocent people to suffer because of the ineptitude of the business he works in; I can only hope that you find yourself on the recieving end of harrassment from a company like yours. Then, and only then will you truly know that your business works from the lowest rung of the moral ladder.
Yup, these guys are nuts. I have written a letter to the FTC and called: suggest you do the same:
