This is the American Institute for Cancer Research looking for a donation.  Call 800-843-8114, tell them you're calling about donation solicitation calls and ask to have your phone number removed from their list.

Have ask them before, several times not to call my telephone number: 903-541-2465. They keep calling and getting my answering machine and don't even leave a message.  What a pain, send something in the mail if they must.

This number called while I was out and my granddaughter answered.   The caller claimed to be my doctor and said I needed some kind of cancer test!   Scared my granddaughter to death - she was very upset until I got home and I assured it was not my doctor and had to be some kind of scam or somebody looking for a donation.    I have a phone service where I can look at answered calls so I got the number and name "American Inst", did a reverse look up and found it came from a cell phone and then did a Google to find out more and found this site.   Thanks for having it and hopefully it can help shut them down.
I'm going to report to FCC for false representations.   Please don't be sucked into giving them anything!

sorry, but i think your granddaughter has a very BIG imagination.  they've called here many times and have always been polite.

*Never* give donations to a stranger who calls you. Might be a scammer. Might be a legit independent fund raiser who keeps 90% for themselves and sends 10% to the charity. Best to find what charity they are collecting for, research the charity to make sure it's legit, get charity contact info from an independent source, then donate *directly* to the charity so they will get 100% of your donation.

The caller is the AMerican Insitute for Cancer Research.  They DO have a website with a physical contact address. To quote:

I have had AICR call from 6 different #s. Whats up with that ? If it is legit then send me conformation in the mail. I never give donations over the phone. How much money has been donated to Cancer research since its inception? Hundreds of billions I'll bet. Seems to me they would have found a cure by now with all that money. They probably do but don't want to kill the cash cow. Same with the common cold. I'll bet they have a cure but imagine the pharmacy shelves being stripped of all the cold remedies. The Pharmaceutical Industry would go haywire.

We just got a call from them,but we didn't answer it because i think it was a fraud.

If these scam artists are legitimate as you claim, why don't they stop calling when asked?  I have had five calls from these jokers since I asked them to stop interrupting my day!!!

received a call from them today. Caller ID said: Amer Inst. No message left. I never answer any calls from strange Caller ID numbers. I just delete, delete, and delete. I have received 77 such "hangup" calls in the month of June. Seven so far in July. What a pain in the butt. And, of course, I am on the "do not call" list.

These clowns call at least once and often twice a day.  CALLERID alternately shows up as AICR or American Inst.  They are very insidious as they shift their phone number almost every time they call.  I tried using call blocking but they just shift to a different # with a 202 area code.   Generally I have taken to lifting the handset and setting it face down on the desk.  Hopefully they waste some time talking into space but even if they don't I can avoid listening to it ring for a minute.

best to call the FCC and let them look into it, also your local law enforcement/att'y general might want to look at this organizations shady practices....these people are not collecting money to help anyone but themselves...

They have called us several times daily for the past couple of weeks, including Saturday and Sundays - I suspect they are Washington Fat-Cats making a gazzillion dollars a year from well-meaning folks. I called the 800 # shown in the string above (800-843-8114) and told them to stop these donation solicitation calls. They were polite, asked for my name and address and said I would be removed from their list - now let's see what actually happens! (Now I have confirmed my name and address too.............! Yikes!)

these people have a cache of numbers, I keep blocking them, and a new one appears. The only thing legit about them is they really will drain your finances if you give them any information, so don't.

Called this pm but hung up when I answered.

Called today, SUNDAY, at 11:46 a.m., Caller ID "American Inst." Did not leave a message.  First, besides having had calls from 'American Inst." before, they should never call on a Sunday for heavens sake.  I know full well it's a scam, and I think this is insidious.

Received call from 202-607-2927, picked up phone, caller hung up. Ended up here after getting their number from my call history.

My caller i.d. said American Institute. I looked up the American Institute of Cancer Research. It is a real charity BUT their actual number is completely different from 202-607-2927. It is really some scam artist. Not the AICR. I would contact the AICR and tell them that someone is using their name to make money. Do not give anybody any information or money without checking them out beforehand. I wouldn't.
