- Ramona| 2 repliesI get a call at least once a week. I know this is a scam because they are using my married name. I am divorced and have returned to my maiden name.
- Kelsey replies to Ramona| 1 replyRamona, I would seriously be concerned about these people calling you, since they are using your married name.
You may want to due a background check on yourself, just make sure everything is okay with your identity. Usually when these scammers contact you they use a name you will not recognize or no name at all.
NOTE TO EVERYONE.......
If these scammers are contacting you on your smartphone, I would highly recommend you check the PERMISSIONS of the APPS that you have downloaded. Some people be so anxious and excited to try a new APP that is Social Media popular, they do not bother to read the TERMS OF SERVICE and or PERMISSIONS!
If the scammers are contacting you on your home phone, remember this is a machine that is contacting you. These scammers auto-dial numbers until someone picks up and or call them back. The moment you contact them back IT IS OVER FOR YOU. You have just opened up your smartphone/home phone to more harassing calls letting them know that sooner or later you will break down and give in to them.
If you dont recognize a number that calls you DO NOT PICK UP!!!! I cannot stress this enough!! Unfornately since we are all living in the DIGITAL AGE now, every piece of info is at risk regardless of encryption. Sadly most people are wondering how these scammers get your number.....Well there is a good chance that a company that has your numbers listed to contact you has been DATA BREACHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Kat replies to KelseyWhile your advice is good, not everyone can ignore calls from unknown numbers. I myself answer phones as part of my job and cannot ignore a single one. That doesn't mean I can't hang up once I realise it's a scam call but I can't not answer.
- Dustin| 2 repliesThis number calls me once a day a recording keep saying I owe money.. this number needs to remove my number and quit harassing me
- Kat replies to DustinSince "this number" isn't going to stop calling you, block them. Simple.
- Kelsey replies to DustinUnfortunately, Dustin...All you can do is block the number or contact your cellphone service provider in regards to having your phone number changed.
Now although you can block the number that is constantly harassing you, there is a good chance those Cellphone scammers will contact you with a new number. I have at-least three different numbers contacting me three times a day, due to me having their numbers blocked. They start after 10am, then they try again after 12pm and lastly after 3:30pm.
One thing I can give these cellphone scammers credit for is that they pretty motivated into accomplishing their goals of stealing people money. If they put that much time and effort into finding A LEGAL JOB, they would probably be damn near rich by now. But of course the cellphone scammers don't want to work hard, they want the easy way out by committing a crime.
The F.B.I are aware of these scammers actions and right now all they can do is have a press conference for the news reporters to air on TV, stating the way the cellphone scammers operate and to not be fooled into giving them money even if they threaten to have you arrested.
There are quite a bit of YouTube videos with the cellphone scammers calls to make people aware of the daily harassment. If you want to hear the bullsh1t they spew, just go to Youtube and type *(cellphone scammer voicemail)* in the search bar.
Also, if on of the scammers contact you and you happen to answer the call due to number being spoofed, DO NOT ANSWER "YES" when they ask if you can hear them correctly. By saying "YES" your voice is recorded and used to break into credit card and bank accounts!
