Someone stating they are my caseworker. I don't have or need a caseworker

got a call with a machine voice stating the IRS was trying to contact me.  Then a human came on and asked why I had called him.

I did not answer, called them back and told them I got a call from this number and they hung up.

I got a call from this number, called it back to ask what the problem is after looking up and reading that it could be a scam and told the guy to never call me again and get a real job... He says, "F$#@ off B$#%@". This is our craziness that people think they can do this to people!

We've gotten several calls, and several people live here so I decided to ask who they were calling for, the young man with a heavy accent couldn't give me a name so I hung up. The next time they called I  listened to the recording and pushed 1 to get a person. This time the person barely spoke English and when I told them that my husband was a tax attorney (made that up) and that I wanted the supervisor, suddenly this guy's English skills improved and he called me an ungrateful bi**h and then told me to fu*k off and hung up.

Received a call stating the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and to call immediately.

Extremely threatening, claiming to be IRS worker for case #<long number> and there could be penalties of grand jury investigation if I didn't return call.  I returned call as "Agent David" and informed person who answered that this call is being traced for geolocation purposes and to please stay on the line for another 20 seconds...person swore a blue streak at me then hung up.

I received a message on my answering machine.  Robot call claimed to be IRS and threatening a lawsuit.  I called back just to see if I could get anyone on the other end.  It went straight to an answering machine telling me to leave my name and phone number.  RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!  Now I am calling the FCC.

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

We received the following robo call on our answering machine at 11:59 am from 202 738-1074 (Male voice):
"IRS is filing a lawsuit against you either press 1 to get connected with your case officer or call immediately on our department number 202 738 1074 I repeat 202 738 1074."
A few months ago we received a very similar message but from 206 801 1872. And again, recorded it as follows (Female voice):
"The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you, to get more information about the case file please call immediately on 206 801 1872 I repeat 206 801 1872 I thank you."
It is interesting that a few of the small words are missing like "the" IRS and "a" lawsuit.
