My mom came to me in a panic saying that 202-738-1097 called her stating tax fraud over several years of taxes. Said she owed $25,000. Also told her that "they" will come in 20 min to arrest her. If it was this serious an IRS angent and police would be here not a fake Scam artists calling and treating a senior citizen over the phone. Thank you low life scum for putting my mom through this I hope you rot in hell.

I got a 2 recordings earlier this morning saying there was fraudulent activity on my account.  I there there was not. I have a CPA that worked for the IRS do them and have done so for 20 years. I called the number and a foreign man answered. In the background was lots of chatter...a call center.  He answered  IRS. I told him I  was Agent Scully  ( a nod to X files) and said they were presently under investigation for calling people with an IRS scam. He got frustrated and said I had to talk to his manager, who was right there and she just said Hello? She didn't identify herself.  Then the call was disconnected. Don't fall for this.

I received a call from this number this number, it was a recording saying that it was an urgent matter regarding the IRS and I should call them back immediately. I called them back, they answered, asked me for my phone number and they called out my full name. He said he worked for the IRS made me write down a batch number and then said there was a warrant against me, and unless I paid $3,000.00 I would get arrested. Long story short, I hung up, called 911 and the actual IRS and it was all a low life scammer. Please do not fall for this!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
