Obviously the call is from a "boiler room" lot's of background noise. These are not Americans, they are not exactly English American speakers, maybe India, Pakistan.The company called telling me that I had $7000.00 in government "grant money" that was not taxable or had to be paid back to the government. They have you call back with a verification number and again $7000.00 in grant money will be mine. As I asked for a check and not a direct deposit they will send the check via Federal Express with 2 of their "agents" to help me or my bank count out the money. I asked if the 2 agents would be shipped Fed Ex too in the envelope with the check, just how do they get here with the check? And why does my bank need help counting? $7000.00 is a lot but it's really only 70 $100.00 bills. Not something I need help with counted out to me. I asked what their company name was and the response was not identifiable. I asked the name of their scam and the guy acted all upset by the question. What's the goal to get my bank information, my account numbers? Gain access to my private information? Well he hung up on me.

more  than likely   (  99  %  )   one   of  the   several   "  202"  area  code  fraud  scams   going  around !!!

PLEASE  NOTE !!!   THESE  SCAMMERS  ARE ALSO IMPERSONATING   THE  US  GOV'T /  SEVERAL  GOV'T  OFFICES AND   PERSONS....BEWARE !!!

- also  impersonating    US  MARSHALLS /   DEA AND  DRUG  ENFORCEMENT  etc....

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign countries !!!!

we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers  in  INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you....just  provide  you  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

several  of  these are  the  usual   long  ongoing  scams   such  as  :  you  have  won a  free  walmart /  bestbuy  gift  card....or  you  have  won a  free  ipad  etc......all  long  ongoing  scams

Caller: 202 AREA CODE FRAUD SCAMS

thanks u so much james anderson for helping me to receive my grants of 7000$ and i put down my security deposit of 310$ but i receive it back again thank you so much...!

Totally a scam, I just spoke with a person who called himself Ryan Slater. I first tell him I'm looking to proceed with receiving my money. He asks for my code # after for attempts he then asks for my name and then only keeps saying my first name because he couldn't find my last name. He says $7000 money is ready gives me three options to receive the money. Direct deposit, credit card or cash - I indicate cash he then asks if there is a wester union near me which we can use. I indicate yes, he then indicates that there is a $310 processing fee, but after giving him this money. Then the 7000 + the processing fee will be included in the amount sent to wester union.

OK, this is funny. If the government was doing this then they would have no problem sending this money out after you first go online to one of their secured websites where you would then provide all of your information and then receive a certified number which would be used as your ID number and you would not be provided with a number especially by someone over the phone!!!
