They've been calling me all week didn't pick up until today and they keep telling me there the us government and they want to give me a $9,000 grant. Mind you I never applied for a grant so wondering if this is a scam or the real deal. Also they said I have to pay 200.00 for a transaction fee and send it to Thailand Lol so if any info please lmk thanks

So the 2026410444 called first told me I would receive a grant from the government and told me to call 2022027381262 told me I would receive 9000 all I would have to pay is 150 when I started laughing the guy says why are you laughing what's so funny? I said the government doesn't give grants especially through Western union then he says are u free tonight? I said why are u asking me out on a date and he replies, I want to f** u. I said what (he had an accent) he repeated I want to f** u I would pay for that. I laughed and said the Lord forgive u sir. That was that. Very funny, but americans aren't that stupid.

I have been receiving calls from 202-738-1262, claiming to be the IRS and that they have filed a lawsuit against someone in my household. I have not answered the call, but am smart enough to know that if this were true, I would receive a letter from the IRS.

My husband and I received a call from 202-738-1262 claiming to be from the IRS.   I did not return the call.  The message that they left on our machine was that this was their final notice after attempting to contact us several times.

Caller said she was from IRS, and IRS was getting ready to  file a law suit against me.  Said I should call another #.  Instead, I called her # back.  After many rings, a man answered "IRS".  When I asked if it was really IRS, he hung up.  I knew it wasn't IRS;  they write.

The IRS would be a toll-free number and they wouldn't tell you WHY they were calling. They would give you a reference number to give...

I got the same call and ive sent an email to the IRS others should do the same: phishing@irs.gov  let them know when and the number and what they said or asked for. Let the IRS do something about it.

Just received one on my cell phone.  I let it go to vm since I didn't recognize the number. I too have e-mailed the IRS.

They left a message on my phone stating they were the IRS and are filing a lawsuit against me.  When I said [***] he said thank you and hung up.  I happen to know that the irs doesn't call they do everything though the mail

A robo call claiming to be IRS and saying it's my final notice before they will file a lawsuit against me. To learn more information about the case file call our department at 202-738-1262.  They have called about 6 times this month with similar messages.

I, too, had a message today saying the IRS was suing me.  How is it that they have not been shut down?

They are located in INdia and Pakistan.  As such they are beyond the reach of US law and the local governments do little if anything.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

If it is true, then why did I get a call saying they were from the IRS & was told to call 202-738-1262?

9-11-15 202-738-1262 (wireless caller) Said it was a final notice from IRS Internal Revenue Service ... to inform you IRS is filing lawsuit against you.
They called back later from 214-660-5538 (out of area) with same message.
