I got a call from "out of area," (thank goodness for caller ID!) I was told I was a chosen US citizen for a $2,000.00 grant. I was asked to confirm my age, name, and address. Then I was give an "approval number" and a phone number (202)738-1468) to call to talk to a "Treasury Agent" to finalize a grant money transfer to a Western Union account. This put my brain into Scam-alert mode!
The bad/ broken English and the exceedingly loud background noise reek of SCAM!

Me Too. On Nov. 8th- This number was given to me from a gentleman named Harry Steve (as he claims) calling from a restricted number, telling me I'll be receiving a federal grant, and to call 202-738-1468, regarding receiving this US Grant.
And then was asked the same information, and how I would like to receive my money.. Western Union, or on a Debit/Credit card.. Yeah right.. no way was I going to give them that info. - Anyway, he continued by giving me a "Grant Confirmation ID#" and for me to call this number: 202-738-1438. - - Of course, nothing seemed right about this.. but I called anyway, out of curiosity and to see how deep this scam may go, and any further info I can get out of them, in which to report them. - I spoke with a woman named Sarah who stated that I've been randomly picked along with 1700 other people to receive a US Federal Grant of $10,200.00.  - But I need get a GreenDot money card and specified (the paper type, not plastic), And that it can be purchased in Walmart or Target, etc.. for $4.95. and to put $190.00 on it, for security deposit - Then to contact her back, so she can verify it is the correct card and info. - Then she will assist me with collecting my Grant money....LOL.. Yeah RIGHT!!!!

This is a mobile number that is given out by a man from India, and sold as a US Federal Government Grants Department telephone number. A very elaborate scam. Lots of scripted information about receiving a grant that never has to be repaid. They ask for a lot of personal information. Very rude, as are his partners-in-crime. "

Received the same call today.  Caller ID only showed the number "0" for the incoming call.  All the same information given to me as the other posts.  Definitely a scam.

I got call from same number tell me I have grant $10,200.  They give me "approval number" and tell me call 202-738-1468.  I think it sound funny.   I been receiving these calls past couple weeks just hanging up on them but this time decided listen what they have say.  Before my Father pass away he receive call and was scammed so I very suspectful when receive calls like this call.  I called talked my brother and decided Google number online find emails tell me their stories.  It ashame we have been afraid any calls we receive.  We very afraid trust anyone anymore.  Like you the person I talked to had very broken English.

I recieved the same call today. It is sad that people spend their time trying to scam others out of their hard earned money.

Just to warn you if you dont call the number that he provides, he'll call you again. Start throwing out questions to frazzle him, itsmean but hilarious.  Be safe all

I got the same call this week, same number, same type guy who I could hardly understand.  Sounded like a scam so I've been trying to find info about this number.   That lead me to this website.  This verifies my suspicions, thanks.  Beware, they are still fishing.

that just happened to me like just right now and I wanted to see how far GoItd but he told me to call back in 30 minutes but I'm I got a call back at any minute I want to thank all of you guys for giving me such detail in Intel into this problem in this phone number and hopefully we can stop these people from trying to collect money from people why would you need to put 190 into a card STUPIED AND ALL I HEARD IS REALLY LOUD NOISE IN THE BACK GROUND

I received same type of call just now.  Seemed too good, so I researched the number, which brought me to this website.  Because I'm about to lose my house and so behind on my bills, I was so ready to use my water bill money, so glad I decided to read all your replys.  How can people do this to innocent people.
