It says United Students Exchange Foundation of Washington DC. I honestly don't think they're legit.

Looks kind of shady to me. Best to stay away.

I also received an email from hr@usefn-edu.org, more specifically for a job offer.
They said they saw my resume on Workopolis which would be glad as I have a public account, and am currently seeking employment.  I guess my question is, are you both in the same boat with currently seeking employment?  Is it a scam? Is it ligit?
Funny thing is I also missed a call this afternoon from a 202-407-3261, whereas the email contact shows as 202-738-1839.

    Any input appreciated.

This is definitely a scam. I also received the same email from hr@usefn-edu.org. for a job offer. They also said that they saw my resume on Workopolis. This is not true. Although I have my account with Workopolis (only my name) I still have yet to post my resume. So it doesn't make sense for them to offer me a job when they have not even seen my resume!!!  My brother also received the same email almost the same time as me and he just ignored it. My brother had his resume posted but he is a graphic designer so it is totally irrelevant for them to offer him a job as a Student Exchange Coordinator.  I  googled United Students Exchange Foundation but no actual name came up. We have USEF Pakistan and USEF Nepal etc etc. All these made it more suspicious. I replied their email asking for more info and I requested for their website but I did not give my full name and contact nos. It's been a couple of days now and they have not responded.  If you think about it, a legit company offering you a job, would definitely provide you their website so that you can learn more about them before deciding whether to accept the offer. In this case, there is no website, no contact person and no legit address of the organisation. It's definitely another scam ...just ignore it.!!!

This must be a newer scam.... I got an email too and gave them my name and phone number asking for more info... the website they sent only works if I click the link provided in the email... if I type the exact website in my browser it doesn't work... also got a text message with a Charleston West Virginia area code... and the SMS support phone number (wth is that?)  listed in the email has the area code 533... I looked up the area code and it is designated as a personal communication services area code???? .... I tried to look up John Martinez who signed my email but got nothing.... I also found a scam that seemed very similar under a different name.. http://voices.yahoo.com/beware-work-home-scam ... 558.html?cat=31

I dunno - seems fishy... if I was going to send my child to another country as a foreign exchange student, I would hope they screened the coordinators a little better than this.... my resume was also on a public site btw....

I received the job offer email also.  Though it looked pretty fishy and it appears I was correct.  I mean what kind of a company would just offer a position by email without ever making contact? Thanks for verifying!

SMS just means Text. The company site is:  http://usef-edu.org/index.htm They have developed an elaborate online employment scam to get your SSN and a copy of your DL in the app process and then your bank info for direct deposit of your paycheck once they've gained your trust, that will never come btw. Then this employment scam is designed to take over your identity and drain your resources. They use the DC Chamber of Commerce office address as their address!!!

USEF.. I received job offer as well. Have been researching credibility of existence for several days. They do have a website with access through their e-mail,its not a bad site.I did finally get in touch with a Marie Elliot at 202-738-1834, HR Coordinator, and she possibly sounded middle-eastern. Also was able to finally contact a John Martinez at 202-738-1839, he sounded middle- eastern as well, and asked about the legitamacy of the organization and of course his response was positive, and after telling him I had called because I couldn't understand Marie, he indicated she was Hungarian. At this point it is more like a puzzle to me to figure out whats going on. If you call D.C. information for example, they have no listing for the company, and in the mean time was trying to contact either this Marie or John again to ask about their corporte HQ and phone number. Then I spoke with BBB and they have no listing of the company. Next step is F.B.I. Sounding borderline conspiracy theorist or not, these people could be dangerous, and I would recommend not responding back or just report them. I have downloaded all pertainent forms they sent me and there's 15 pages and although they look somewhat legitemate, such as Contracts, Registration Forms, and Employment Agreement, these all can be obtained through  both a Library, and UPS Stores. In closing, there basically appears to be a new wave of serious Identity Theft crews, so don't give any information, however at this point they're only asking for picture ID, but with that and Social Security card to supposedly send you a check, they can create a whole identity for you!

Do a little research, they have 4 numbers, actually.202-738-1834.1838,1839, and 533-900-9001, which does not go through. Try calling DC information, or Better Bussines Bureau, or any related Student Exchange Organization, no one has heard of them, unless their Corporate name is different, but then why would they have a Web Site, and Contracts with USEF logo imprinted?Good Luck

    Hi everyone,

This is a scam. they hack into other people's accounts and transfer funds to your account and claim its donor money. Well guess what I got scammed and now I'm in the hole 3k. The guy I spoke to was James Taylor 202-738-1833. Stay clear from these people.

If you have done all the research you can on these companies and they still sound legit, it would be logical to assume at the last stage that this could occur. So to cover yourself it would be advantageous to simply open up a new account with a simple deposit of $10-25.If they transfer $ into your account, what did you do with it?Your best bet is always," if its to good to be true then it is". I was offered $20 an hour to start, and $35 after two weeks probation, so on that account you really got ripped off as well, or perhaps as I was used to making that amount they custom tailored the job offer.Like the other guy above said, always check with BBB, ask for corporate HQ phone number, and look up and call similar companies to obtain any info you can before proceeding, you would be surprised what knowledge they have with fake competition.Sorry you got ripped off. Also James Taylor was and is a singer from the 60-70's, thats a red flag in itself, I had an offer from a company called Business Software Company, BS Company..hmmmm

I received a job offer from them hr@usfd-edu.org stating it was from careerbuilder website. They were requesting personal information. I thought it suspicious because if it was from someone I applied to they would have that information. I also called the telephone number listed as HR and a guy picks up. AVOID it.
