They said they are from the irs and that they are filling a lawsuit against me and yet when I called the number it beeped and I can't find the number

I just got a call from them, as well.  Did not return it, but called my attorney.  She said it's a scam and that she's gotten the very same phone call before.  I suggest you block the number on your phone.

Automated message said call was from IRS and they are filing a lawsuit against us.  I called our accountant and she said it's obviously a scam because IRS does NOT call people.

received a call today to call this number, and yesterday to call 509-588-7318, for the same reason.  Both numbers are a scam.

I receive same call from both numbers u listed. I actually answered my phone when call came in. it was a middle eastern accent and I became immediately on guard. He kept asking me for information to verify or pull up info, which I did not give. The I told the guy he was a scammer and I was turning number into IRS and the number went to a busy signal when I tried calling again, to get info out of them. What pisses me off are they are scaring people into believing "IT IS THE IRS" and people foolishly give then all their personal info and "Bam" they steal your money. feel really bad for the elderly who are being done this way. I also call tax office and contacted the IRS. Both said "IRS does not call or email people, they send letters."

Got the same 2 calls. It's bad because they do have people believing them and get money from them. They told me I owed over $6,000. These people are getting millions of dollars!

I just received the same call claiming they were the IRS and were filing a lawsuit against me  its a scam....I'm reporting them to TIGTA The Treasury Inspector  Genera lfor Tax Administration at 1-800-366-4484...  You should also contact The Federal Trade Commission and use their FTC Complaint Assistant at FTC.gov

Received a call that IRS was 'filing a case" against me. Figured it was bogus. Thankful for these reports as well.

I received a call and when I returned the call they were asking for personal info.  I told him that if he is truly from the IRS he should have that info.  At that point he became very hostile and said he was an "officer of the Government" and could have me arrested.  I laughed, but I feel very bad for people that actually believe them.  Sad.  Be very wary of anyone that tries to represent themselves as government officers!

I got a call like that,  too. I didn't think it was real because the federal government would leave an 800 number.

If they are a scam and based in the US why can't they be arested by the FBI

1.  It IS a scam
2.  They are not in the USA
3.  Probable location is India or Pakistan
4.  They are spoofing the phone number

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

Got calls from both these numbers also.   Already figured it was a scam since I knew IRS doesn't call!

Received the call today stating the IRS is filing a lawsuit.

Someone need to do something about this ASAP!

Called us twice today, one just now, one yesterday and one the other day. They are really desperate.
