number is scam - they prey on people on sitter sites, send checks to young ladies and want them to deposit them and send them money back - they will drain your account.

I am a single parent and run a small house cleaning company in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA. I have a listing on Craigslist Atlanta for my cleaning services. I received a text measage stating that the person's name was Jenna Maria, which I realize now is another alias of this person, "Amanda Theodore". She asked me to communicate with her via email, so I did. The response email was filled with promises of working to clean a local apartment and running errands for this, supposed, family of 4. They were in Texas at this time & would be mailing me a key to the apt. & first week's pay. When I read her offer of $450 per week for, a mere, 6 to 10 hours a week, I knew, then, that it was a scam! Because, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is usually a duck!
BEWARE OF THIS PERSON!

Yes, the check would have been no good and would have been for a lot more than you asked for.  You would have been told to deposit the check and then immediately send money out by untraceable means such as Western Union.  Since most people do not know that the funds being available are not the same as the check clearing, they end up owing the bank for the money and the fees when the check eventually bounces.

She has sent me a cheque, I already worked out it was a scam from the poorly worded emails I had received from this person. I advised her I would be tearing the cheque up and screenshot all the evidence to her that I knew it was a scam.  Hired me from a childcare group and said she was returning to the UK from Canada and needed a P.A and nanny, very little hours for a lot of money.

Contacted my via a childcare company sending me her email. Then before I even emailed her she’d ‘offered’ me the job of her PA and nanny despite not being in the country. Have emailed multiple times requesting that she phone/ FaceTime me as I suspected foul play to be ignored and her to tell me it is my ‘mission to complete these assignments’ whereby I pay the western union £1000 and will receive it back at the end of the week. To which I immediately knew this was dodgy and searched her up.
