I got the same exact threat. Everything written above was lectured at me. IRM758398 called me to tell me that I am being investigated for Tax Fraud and I owe over $60.000 but if I settle today with his Supervisor and pay $7494.00 I can avoid going down to court in Washington DC. The call kept cutting in an out so I realized it was an international junk call after the woman with an indian accent with the fake name, Liza Smith told me I should get a cash advance from my credit card and go to one of the 7 IRS registered Vendors to pay my penalty. Walgreens, Apple Pay, Visa gift cards, google pay are all accepted. I [***] with her and said I need to go to the bank and withdraw the money. She said it was a recorded call and she has to be on the phone with me and proceeded to tell me about conference calls and I can call the credit card company or bank on three way and just wire the money and if I hang up they will file the warrant for my arrest. I told her Im heading to the bank right now! she probably got excited she was going to get money and called me back about 10 times. i just let her keep calling and put my phone on silent. she never left a message again. I reported this to the IRS  on the TIGTA hotline. Liza Smith uses the call center number SW264562 and she said that she has been assigned to my case and i should call her directly 202-888-0476. They had my address and cell phone so you know they got from some list of some company that sold our info. Perhaps even the Equifax breach - who knows. They all use the same story and are trained to be scumbags. #IRSFRAUD
