- Susan| 1 replyThey just called, second time today and it's only 9:47am, different number. Female's voice says "we have been trying to reach you. We are the legal department of the IRS, and this is your last notice that we plan to sue you", I'm actually paraphrasing there, but that's the message. They give a call back number that matches the number they called from. Unlike the others, that came from Florida, this one is coming from D.C.
I called back, spoke to Officer Williams with the Legal Department of the IRS. He is foreign, and I could hear a bank of them in the background making the same calls. He identified me by name. He gave me a Warrant number, and told me not to interrupt, I would have a chance when he was done. We had three charges against us for the years 2011/2014. 1) Violation of the IRS Act; 2) Violation of the IRS Code; 3) Misrepresentation of information given to the IRS. They have gathered Strong evidence that these acts were intentionally done to defraud the IRS, and that we owe them $3,115. We have the right to fight it, however, if we lose, which we likely would, the IRS has the right to seize our bank account, house, and charge us a fine of $90,000 and would have to pay it in the next seven days. Do we want to take that chance, because after all, they have STRONG evidence against us. He didn't hang up on me when I said the IRS doesn't do anything in 7 days.
When I did interrupt him, and said "in America, we get written notice of a lawsuit", he did hang up on me.
So, they call from many many numbers. I could see where someone gullible might fork over the money, and my advice is don't answer, don't call back. I only called back to gather my own STRONG evidence, ha!- Caller: Legal Dept of the IRS
- Kvsegura replies to SusanI just received a call as well from this number. As soon as I called back it was static and I could barely understand him. He was foreign as well. As soon as he asked for my social security number I hung up and reported it to my local IRS department. They call all hours of the day the latest I've received a call was 9pm. My advice is don't give them any of your personal info and report them!!!
