I received an "IRS" call from this number today, 08.01.2013.  Who is this?

said they were from Tax Crime Unit..... I owed money to the "IRS" they were trying to resolve the issue over the phone.... Was not willing to send documentation. I was told not to call this number back if I was not willing to resolve this over the phone. They threatened me with IRS officers. Then hung up on me. Think this is a scam?

I got a call from this #2028883172 saying i owe money to the IRS.I called ,Amanda with an Indian accent answered.He got my name and hung up never to answer the phone again.

I got the same call and he hung up on me and told me I was going to jail because I owe IRS, I don't even file taxes cause I don't work!

Even I got the call form same number. But it was a blank call

I just received this call from 202-888-3172. A very heavy pretty much broken English speaking person. Asked for my name, when I said this is he repeated to ask for me again and said calling from IRS. He said if I had an attorney who will represent me in the court. when asked about whose taxes said if I needed more information ( informazation- according to his accent) to call his manager with the number he was provided. asked him more questions, he hung up.
called the number again, someone pickup and said "May I help you". I asked what company this was, he said IRS. I asked for his employee ID number he said a few numbers and said m***f**. I repeated again his number the same way he said and asked him who is was. Said IRS and hung up. I definitely think it is a scam because IRS will never call. They will only send you letters. so be careful

I got a call this afternoon saying that I owed taxes and if I do not pay $25,000 to them, i will be sent to jail. This call was from IRS Crime branch.

I recieve the same call telling me i owe $1500.00........

I recieve a call from irs crime tax saying i owe $1500.00 for taxes from 2002-2012 i have never work or file any kind of taxes

i got this call from 202-888-3172 said they are irs fraud dept and you owe 1500. i said i dont owe anything then they threatened to arrest me if i did not pay this amount now. i said o dont have 1500 and he said ok can you pay half? i said i have 50 dollars in my account and he hung up

I got the same call. Dude I couldn't even understand the guy on my machine. His accent was so heavy. Had to have a few people listen to figure out what he said. What a joke this is. Please don't call these thieves back if you get this call. The  IRS would not make a phone call. Plus I know their is nothing wrong with my taxes. I'm a CPA!

I received a call from this same number, 202-888-3172, this afternoon (Aug. 6, 2013). First call I didn't answer and man with heavy accent claiming to be from the IRS tax claim investigation unit of IRS, left a message telling me to call back immediately. I tried calling back with no answer. About an hour later, he called again, asking for me by my first name. When I identified myself, he told me the same story, and asked the name of my attorney. I asked for his badge number, and he told me 2205. When I asked what this was about, he said 'pending debt'. I said I would check him out and get back with him if he is legitimate. I called the IRS, waited on hold for 30 minutes and then spoke with a kind lady who said they have no such phone number listed in their records, and warned me NOT to give out any information. She checked my tax records to see if there was anything there, and found them clear. Clearly seems like a scam. Thanks everyone, for posting your warnings.

1 got this call too on 8/7/13 i don't know they told me same thing who are they did you get any information???

Even I received this call 2 mins  back....I think its fake yet am worried a bit....

I received a call from same phone # saying he is from tax crime dept. heavy broken english IRS. I told him I do not care.and hung up.

My Mother recieved the same call today, is this indeeed fraud? I am calling the number back, no answer

My Sis in law got call ,she sent $1000 ,later found its scam there people acting like irs,they never call u or can say that will issue warrants ,there gang of indian people doing this probarly somewhere in india be carefull we got scammed already
