The number belongs to Lester, Inc., 10 Business Park Dr., Suite A, Branford, CT  06405.  They call and hang up or, if you pick up the phone, they disconnect.  Beyond annoying.  If you want to annoy them back, call their 1-800 number which they have to pay for:  1-800-999-5265.

Charity or not. If some one is too unprofessional to leave a message and is too rude to be on the other end of the line when I answer, I don't care if it is a charity that I may wish to support. This charity just lost my support.

Also when a caller ID has been deliberty programmed (in this case to display Connecticut) then this could be a scam. Professional organizations and legitimate organizations do not hide their name.

I called the 800 # and a lady picked up and said Lester inc. I said hold on a minute and I said nothing for several seconds until I could hear the annoyance in her voice.  Then I said Lester called and I just wanted to see what he wanted.  She sounded surprised and transferred me to a very nice lady explained it must have been a subscription renewal call.  She apologized for the hang up!  It's annoying, but what are you going to do, at least she said she was sorry.

Charitable organizations are not subject to the DNC list. However, the way the law is written, that the charities themselves are exempt. Whe the charities contract with these marketing services, it is no longer the charity calling, it is a 3rd party calling and they are subject to DNC. The problem is that th e states and the federal government  is not enforcing the DNC rules. It is an ineffective law and these callers are  risking very little that they will ever be caught and fined or prosecuted.

Thanks to Kathy and Patty for saving me the time to do the research.  Now I can engage in mutual harassment.  Bythe way they do answer on the weekend, if you wait and dial "0" for the operator.  I think everyone should call their 800 number 10 times on the weekend.  Hopefully the poor operator is on overtime.

Thanks for the 800 number.  I've been calling them every 10 minutes and get the joy of hearing the operator saying  hello......hello.......hello  when i don't say anything.  a beautiful bit of schadenfreude

I just emailed them through their website.  The only info I gave them that was correct was my phone number.
I told them that they keep harassing me although I have told them on various occasions to remove my number from their database.  I also told them that should they call again, I will find out who they are calling for and if it's a charity I will call the charity and tell them I will not donate to them anymore because of these calls.  if the charities get enough calls telling them that donations will stop if they employ a call center, they may stop using these centers. Also, if they want to keep getting donations, they damn well better have a form for DO NOT CALL on their donation slip.

    Just my humble thoughts.
