I let it go to voicemail and the recording said they have been trying to reach me about getting a grant. Scam alert!

Another unknown # called my cell that I sent to voicemail. Message was to call this#; not # they called from. Was to call about claiming a grant. Didn’t call them

Call from a Washington state number (206-331-4344), which left a voicemail message.  Robotic voice, instructing me to call 973-841-2995.  It is a bogus call.

Yep! The same thing happened to me just a minuet ago. It's a scammer claiming they are the IRS trying to scare people into giving them money.

Scam call from the 'IRS' leaving a message telling me I'm under investigation for fraud and I'm in big trouble if I don't call back.  IRS doesn't call people, they use mail.

This number called and a man claimed to be from the IRS and demanded I call back.  I haven't filed my taxes yet and called the IRS...they did not call.  THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!

Just recieved the same call and message. Delete and block!

"Left a voicemail in a robotic voice stating "Hi, This is Officer Ryan Smith from IRS (Internal Revenue Service). This is to notify you that you are under federal investigation because of the fraud and unethical activity found in the audit report of your taxes. You can reach me on 206-331-4311. Not(?) trying to disregard the message or else it will be taken as an offense from your side. Once again this is Ryan Smith from internal Revenue Service". Different phone # on other sites, same scam.

Called today left recording stating they were the IRS officer mike smith failure to call back would be held against me.

SCAM. Apparently Officer Ryan Smith from the IRS called to let me know that I have to call back otherwise I will be in trouble as I am under investigation. What a joke!!!

No, it's not the IRS, it's a scammer and likely a foreign one at that. I see they alternate between scams with number, telling some people they can GET money and other people they OWE money. Typical scammer move.
To everyone getting the grant call: grants are not given away at random, they must be applied for and IF you qualify, you don't have to pay to receive it.
To everyone getting the IRS call: the IRS will contact you via US Mail, not phone. They will also NOT threaten you with arrest or a lawsuit.
If you get either of these calls, just block the number.

Of course, if this scammer was spoofing the number of an innocent person, THAT'S who you just prank dialled. Nice going.

Caller left a voice mail message, robotic/automated voice, claiming to be the IRS.  Indicated failure to return call would have negative consequences.  Said there name was IRS Aven Ryan Smith.

Total scam!!!  The IRS only communicates in writing to notify taxpayers of audits or even routine inquiries.
