A recording, in Spanish, said "the cash register has opened!" Then there was the sound of a cash register opening.  The voice said I had won $2,000 and asked me to press "1" to claim the money...

i was called today in des moines and they didn't leave a message, but i called the number and it said travel angency or something

I missed a phone call from this number.  They didn't leave a message.  I'm in IOWA.

Just answered a call at 2:04 p.m. on my bluetooth so didn't see the caller id.  It was a recorded Spanish speaking woman.  I just hung up.  Hope I don't end up with an outrageous charge on my cell phone.

I went to donotcall.gov to make sure my number was on the "do not call" registry list.  If your number has been on the "do not call" list for more than 31 days report the number!  I also contacted my cell provider, customer service obviously said not to give out any info and that it was probably a scammer randomly calling numbers to see what private information they can come up with.  They also said they can not block the call as it is a Verizon Wireless cell number and supposedly you can't block cell phones.

Received call at 1:30 p.m. Central time on 12-8-2008. Identified as 206-462-1795 "No Name." Woman's voice speaking Spanish and then hangup.

just Happened to me on my cell phone

I got the same call about an hour ago.  Can someone call Verizon and report the number to them directly?  Seems to me if Verizon is made aware of this, they should do something about it.

I got this one ione my cell phone too. I called it back from a land line and it was a travel center. It asked me if I wanted my number removed and it let me remove it.

Urbandale,IA. Got this call on my work phone & cell phone. Didnt answer, at first but I called back after the call to my cell and got a message stating "this is a travel related phone call"   ...Not sure what kind of scam this is but it sure sounds shady.  Not sure how they could get both work & cell #. ...Strange

Same thing.  I am in central New Jersey.  Hung up as soon as I heard Spanish because I do not speak it so did not want to say something in response to question.

I just got off the phone with Verizon and they say it is not their number.  The gentleman said he was showing the number listed with West Telecom Inc.  He also stated that they may be moving the number around, whatever that means.  Maybe someone can call West Telecom?
