My phone just rang with this number also, 209 681 7879 no message. I recently did a survey online and now I get solicitors from "California", "Virginia".... Washington DC, Kansas, Florida, Arizona and Louisiana.

Daily call from same voiced man. I add to my reject list but they change the last digit.
Enough already!!!!!

They said they're the government grant department that I can have $5,000.00

It's fake-the government doesn't just give out grants-ESPECIALLY not by phone

Grant scams:

The government does not call people up and offer them free money because you paid your taxes on time, have never been arrested, have paid all your bills, or whatever excuse they can make up.  In order to get a grant you need a valid reason (not one of the above and not just because you need money), you have to fill out tons and tons of paperwork, wait a long time, and might not even get the grant in the end.
