Unknown Caller, I answered and the line was dead on the other side. No doubt the caliber of people working for them they do not have the courtesy to even answer when they call.

    ADVICE:
Keep your money; do not donate to this charity.

    COMMENTARY:
This charity is only one by a technicality.  If someone even attempts to donate even a tiny amount of the money that is collected to a charitable cause and registers their organization with the State each year, they can technically be called a charity.  In this case, the Secretary of State, Charities Division (http://www.secstate.wa.gov/charities/search_detail.aspx?charity_id=5615) shows that this organization donates only 20 cents out of every dollar that they take in (either as solicited donations or otherwise); the rest (most) of the money is likely used as profit (pocketed), used to pay the big whigs (a different charity that I came across paid their president $700,000/year!), or used for other 'expenses'.  That is pretty bad.  When I worked for the Charities Division, we frowned upon any charity who was shown to donate less than 70% for their charitable purposes, but we couldn't do anything about it since the Division isn't one that is entitled to enforce such laws.  In my opinion, this 'charity' is one of very low standards given that they keep an overwhelming amount of the money that someone might donate to them, and all of the problems that everyone has reported on this message board.

got the call as well.... felt like another type of scammer call... my number is not listed.... they probably found it random.... who knows.  Another thing is that I kept getting the restricted call that rings and if you pick up it hangs up. Then a week or so later about the same time (in my case 11:30am) get a call from this garbage donation number... Is it connected? Isn't there a way to complain and bust thier false org?

I answered this because it looked like a Seattle cellphone.  It sounds scripted or automated.  There seemed to be a delay from when I'd give my response to what the man on the line would say.  I repeatedly asked for a website (and he finally said wafop.com), and when I tried to say thank you and hang up, he kept talking about donating.  He also asked to mail things to my house, which I declined repeatedly.  I went to the websites suggested above regarding charities, but there's nothing that really explicitly says this is a scam of any sort.  I guess if they call all the time, it would get annoying, but this is the first call I've had from this number.

I went to the wafop.com website, and I noticed that a lot of the information is from 2006-2007, and ONLY three of the email addresses on there is a city, county, or state police enforcement agency address.  Three's better than none, I guess.  If you're really interested in donating to this organization, you should email those official email addresses and see if you get a response before sending them any money.

I received a call from this number this morning. He said he was with the WA ST fraternal of police. Wanting a donation for the victims. He wanted me to give him my credit card info over the phone. I told him I do not give that info over the phone. So he said he would mail it to me but they discourage people to have it mail to them because of the expense ... they really encourage to pay over the phone. Again I said no I don't pay over the phone. I got a funny feeling so I decided to look this number up on internet. I guess I'm not the only one that wonders about this organization (2066820415). I do not plan to donate to them. I don't donate over the phone I always tell them to mail me the info.

Just received a call from this guy, he asked for the "lady" of the house, which put me on alert.  He gave me his canned talk, when he asked for a donation (they would send me a sticker to indicate that I donated), I said,
"here speak to my husband, he is retired Law Enforcement".  Handed the phone to my husband and he said "I am a retired Federal Agent, what can I do for you?"  The guy hung up. And yes he really is a retired agent.
I plan to file a complaint on this.
