Have been receiving multiple, if not aggressive, calls from an "UNKNOWN" number or information. There has never been a message left. Finally I pick up getting sick of the calls. A man answers with a heavy middle eastern accent and broken english stating that I am eligible to receive a Grant of $10,000 from the " US government grants department ". He stated in order to receive this money I would have to either go through Western Union bank, give them my account information for direct deposit, or some other way I was unable to understand. I wasn't sure if he was asking for money to receive this "Free" loan but all in all sounded pretty fishy to me. I asked for more information, he gave me this number of 206-866-5693 and some sort of website that I could barely understand. I wouldn't dare go to the website anyway incase it was a gateway to getting a nasty virus so they could obtain my information anyway. I also tried to call this number back and it just continuously rings. So just to let you know I didn't buy into it and this is my warning for anyone else.

I literally just received this phone call and googled the number to see what this was all about. Kind of got a little excited at first thinking I was granted $10,200 but then it sounded sketchy when she started talking about having the money wired into my bank account as one of the options. I asked her how I knew this was real and she said 'it's not a scam or a way for them to get money, but a grant for those who have no criminal records and have not declared bankruptcy in the past 2 years.' Tried to call the number they gave me but just rings. Btw the last option you didn't hear was for the money to be put on a prepaid card.

    Things to believe:

    * There ain't no such thing as a free lunch (TANSTAFL)
    * If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
    * You have not won big bucks or a grant from an unknown benefactor <<<<<<<<<<<<<
    * The tooth fairy really does not exist
    * Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
    * It is illegal to pay money for a loan, BEFORE getting the loan!
    * "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
    * Microsoft did NOT call you to fix your computer.
    * The moon is not made of green cheese.
    * The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
    * Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
    * If you "green dot" or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.

I just got the exact same call as Maureen. Telling me i was randomly selected for $10,200 and that i could pick it up via western union. Didn't ask me for any money but told me to call (206)866-5693 and give them my confirmation number so the funds could be released. Do these people honestly think we're not going to check it out?
